Welcome to PIR 09/14/2012! A place for friends and family to stay connected!

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

hi all, so here is a funny for you all, I asked  my Sailor Sunday what he was doing? He said nothing so I suggested he go to the movies, he said he didnt know where the theatre was so I told him to ask someone.. he said " Mom, I am a guy, we dont ask for directions"... he is so my son.... LOL

My son says there is a saying at A School "Join the Navy! We train at least 300 janitors per week." :)

There can be lots of waiting during school days.

Mike's Mom - My daughter wants to go to Japan too, she's in AT school right now. She's half Japanese (dad) and was born there and spent the first 4 years of her life there. She even speaks Japanese so it's her first choice if she's given the opportunity. I'd love to be able to go back and visit her, plus she has family there. She and her twin brother have been back often.

Mike had to wait a week at RTC before they finished his paperwork to go to Japan. He knew he was going to be doing "stupid stuff". I told him one of the things I learned in the military was how to LOOK busy. Anyway, he said he volunteered for everything they needed an extra body for just to get out of the building! Unfortunately, escorting recruits to Medical seems to have given him another upper respiratory infection. Go figure. He's at the training command now so its like heaven; 4 person room, liberty easing, has all his electronics (and they have wifi in the building). I still check in here a couple of times a day, but we're not all as needy as we were now that we can actually talk to them!.....lol

Yeah I used Space Bags too, they easily halved the size of the clothing and shoes I had to send her. My daughter says waiting to class up at Pensacola could take 1-2 months... She's literally been cleaning, swabbing decks, laundry, and watching movies in the lounge every day. We text many times a day since it's easier than letting everyone hear her "talking to Mommy."
