OMG I totally forgot the best part of my day now. Getting to talk to my son through out the day if he is not too busy. We either talk on the phone or text back and forth. He always has a "Good Morning" text sent to me before I even wake up. Oh how I love my son. He is so thoughtful and respectful. I almost couldn't believe that after all these years trying to teach him how to do laundry and him ignoring me that he is actually asking me "how do I wash my clothes, what cycle, what temperature?" lol He always has something to tell us everyday and he talks so much that I can't hardly get a word in. But that's ok because after 2 months of not getting to talk to any one I am letting him talk all he wants.
Good Morning Ladies,
I have a question how many have sailors 20 and under? My next question is how many are joint owners on their kids bank account? If you're not talk to your recruit and have them to add you as joint owners. Remember they're still babies (even though they think they're grown) make sure you keep up with their account. Making sure they keep them balance. I'm thinking back to issues I had when I first joined and this was one the things that came up. The average recruit is use to the parents issuing them everything they need and trust me they will forget to balance. They get paid the 1st and 15th of each month and when the 1st/15th fall on the weekend or holiday payday is the day before.
I was talking to a friend of mines Monday and she was telling me about this guy that just checked in at her command that left school, bought a car ridiculous interest rate and the command can't don't anything because he signed the contract.
Also talk with them about buying their first vehicle. Tell them to come home so that the parents can take them to get their first vehicle. Even if they decide to get one at their first duty station. Their's a lot of dishonest people out their and I promise if you don't have this conversation at least one person from this site child will be a victim. During indoc they are advise of this and they need to hear it from you as well people willl prey on them so make sure you let them know to discuss buying anything major with you first. So you can make sure they're getting a good deal. I can't say this enough, even though they think they're grown, they're not and they still need guidance/advice.
Please be their parent and advise them.
Ladies have a Blessed Day!!!
My day oh where do I begin: Well I get up at 5:30 and get my youngest ready for school, drop him off at school. Then come back home have my coffee. Then ponder upon what to do. Some days I just spend looking online. But for the most part because I have a 10 year BOY I spend the time cleaning. Why I don't know because when he gets home from school it looks as if I didn't clean. He is definitely 100% boy. Then I start cleaning all over again til time to cook supper and then after supper bath time ( or as we call it in my house any time some one is in the bathroom it is "my time" ). Then get my youngest ready for bed. And then after he is asleep I watch a little TV then it is lights out for me. Just to do it all over again tomorrow.
The alarm goes off at 6. I roll over, shut it off and check emails from N4M (some of you are east coast and start posting early! some of you don't seem to sleep! lol), get hubby fed and off to work, get myself ready and off to work by 8. I work as an admin asst. at our church (which means I do a little of everything). Lunch at 12 where I (as of this week) send my daughter the first text of the day. Back to work where I seem to be on N4M more than anything else! lol. Off at 5. I am also the Artistic Director for a local community theater production company so most days I'm either heading to direct an evening rehearsal or heading to a production. In-between the two jobs I rush home, feed hubby, myself, and the 5 Koi fish that we keep in our pond in the back yard. I try to remember to send my good night text to my sailor by 9 so that I don't wake her up! usually in bed by around 10:30-11:00. Whew! I'm tired now, is it time to go home yet???
Morning ladies! Thanks for all of your input yesterday! Here's today's question...(Yeah Fresno, another job for you to do! lol)
What is a typical day like for you?
Hi Momof2, I think there was a parking lot not to far from the gate. Maybe someone else will have a better idea. I had to reply mostly cuz I loved your remark..."stand in front of the gate waiting and looking stupid":))) Ha ha!
Good morning everyone! I want to thank you all again for all of the prayers! Yesterday was a very emotional day...we had driven to GL because she had told us she would get some liberty in the afternoon....We had to wait for a call...it didn't come until 5:45...:( Due to the medical hold, she ended up in medical all day in and out! They are still pushing it thru. However, when we were on our way home, she called again! She said she can see us today at 3:30, but she can't go with us, we can see her at NSTC. We are supposed to meet her in front of the gate and she will be able to get us in to visit with her! Has anyone done this before? Where should we park? Do we just stand in front of the gate waiting and looking stupid?
Sorry for rambling...it's been a long one!
Congratulations Momof2! So happy for you and your Sailor!
Five things I'm most happy about right now:
1) I can communicate to my sailor today!
2) He finally has a plan for his life!
3) I still have a child at home.
4) I have a loving husband who supports my weirdness:)
5) Our SA will be able to come home for the holidays!!
Great information about the expired DL. I will pass that along. And I'm planning to send him a few things every week. We talked today & that's what he'd like me to do. He says he'll even pay for it!! - Love you all!
