OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Happy Thanksgiving. Get to spend the morning of Thanksgiving with my son. Then off to the airport with him. He's going to his first duty station in Virginia. It's been great having him home. Time is going by soo fast. It is going to hit me hard that he won't be here for Christmas. But, these past 10 days have been great. He has matured so much.

Have a great holiday.

Going to San Antonio to pick up my Sailor for Thanksgiving and then driving to my Mom's. It will be a bittersweet visit, have not been home for Thanksgiving since before my dad passed. Excited to see my Sailor though...

My sailor will be at Virginia Beach until March 29th. Then his first assignment will be in Norfolk.
He prefers the cold weather, so if it's been cold, he hasn't complained about it. I watch their weather, & I've been seeing 60's & low 70's. But I think they can get pretty cold..

Proudnavymom: How long will your son be there for A School? Does he like Virginia Beach? My son seems to think it's going to be warm. I don't think so. It's kind of like the weather we're having in Chicago. Cold

TLCmom: I hope you had a great time with your son when he was home. We're going to cram in his birthday, Thanksgiving and Christmas all in his short visit. When my son was in San Antonio he had a roommate for about 5 of the 7 weeks. I think he enjoyed being alone for the last two weeks.

His pinning ceremony happens tomorrow at 9:30. I can't be there, but I'll be there in spirit. I hope they take pictures.

Lynda,  My son just came home for 10 days.  He finished his training at Pensacola and he went to Oceana (Virgina Beach) yesterday.  He said that it was very nice and he has a room with a tv and he is by himself, no room mate.  They give them private rooms with a bathroom attached between the rooms.  He has not really be alone with boot camp then Pensacola, he was feeling a little weird being alone!
