my daughter goes to Pensacola on Sunday.. goes to airport but her flight don't leave till 10:44. Does that mean she will get liberty on Sat too??
Congrats to the sailors of 295-298!
Al'sMa: Some of the sailors will invite a sailor shipmate to join their family for the day. Those who have no family there will be released from the base for liberty on the "buddy system."
SRs who were asmoed at this point would be:
Those who didn't pass their final PFA as of this morning would be asmoed, persay. They would actually be in FIT DIVISION trying to pass now. They can stay there for several weeks if it takes that long. Once they pass the PFA, they do BattleStations with the next group and head straight for A School. No PIR.
asmoed=setback in training....could be for many reasons...illness, injury, academic, not passing PFAs, discipline, etc.
You can just "show up" at the airport. The USO is in charge of the sailors at the airports. Their RDCs, etc are not there. I would hate for someone not to go to the airport and then find out that they could. The USO could deny too many people hanging out in their area, and the airlines could refuse to give you gate passes....but we don't hear of this happening. We know that 600 families of sailors will not be arriving at the airports since many will have no family/friends at PIR.
lindagr41: Doubtful that he is flying out at 1:30 a.m. but he is being bussed to the airport to wait for the flights around that time. The earliest flight usually leaves around 6:30 a.m. Haven't seen them leave earlier than that.
As far as changing the rules on families being meeting at the airports....ummmm....unless they are on a charter, that is not true either. But....if on a charter, that is correct...no airport visits. Which means no exchange of cells, computers, etc.
We N4Moms veterans were told a while back by someone on a PIR site that the rules had changed and families could not longer meet sailors at the airport (a sailor reported this to his mom). We thought it was a security thing. But it didn't happen....sometimes the sailors are told things that are "not true." Keep that in mind. Please continue to plan on your airport visits with your sailors at this point.
Lala will have more info on charter flights as he daughter was on one. Not sure if she knew in advance that the flight was a charter....
