~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

nancy611,

It's so cool when our children demonstrate their spiritual walk in the tangible way!!  My Sailor daughter used to always wear the Christian shirts that www.c28.com carried as a witness of her faith~~

6:11 my son's favorite number I find it cool that in the Bible Ephesians 6:11 it states "Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes."  This has been he and his two best friends number since 9 th grade!!  AWESOME  Miss him so much!

They are supposed to call when delayed in training to advise of PIR date change (my son did this....and then called again when he was back to training to confirm).  I have a feeling the ones you read about were ones who had not passed their final PFA (fitness) test by the time their division went into BattleStations (final test).  They call then and say they may be delayed.  The "rule" is that those families should not go to PIR if they do not hear from their SRs/sailors again that they finally passed and got through BattleStations--and are sailors.  But sometimes they go to PIR, assuming they have passed and they may not have passed by then.  Sad for all....

Grayce:  Can you book your flights on Southwest?  They charge no change fee if you have to change, and 2 bags check for free.  You would only pay the difference in fare if you have to change flights (i.e., SR is delayed in training).  Refundable tickets are so very expensive ---- this would be a better choice for you.  Check flights into both Milwaukee (45 min to GL) and Chicago-Midway (hour+ to GL).

Sadly, when my sailor was there, I didn't know about Southwest.  Booked another airlines.  SR was delayed a week in training...yep, had just made flight arrangements a few days before (he was setback when he had been there about 5 weeks).  So two change fees for us!  Good news was the new flights were cheaper than the originals, so it made the change fee seem like $89/per ticket rather than $150.....

So go ahead and book if you find a good fare on Southwest (they run specials too).  No problem booking your hotel now....if you call the hotel (or book online) directly.  However, calling the hotel will allow you to see what their Navy Grad discount rate is.  They usually have a liberal change/cancellation policy...up to day before/day of arrival.  If you use a travel discount website, make sure you know their cancellation/change policy because many times, they charge.

Here is the Southwest Airlines website link:

Thanks diannep!  I asked a couple of these questions on there...

What I'm reading on that thread though is that there are some that didn't get notified that their SR's PIR date changed.  To make sure the flight and hotel reservation were refundable.  I've looked on the Travel Advisory but I've never flown before so I'm not sure I'm doing all this right.  Would it be better to wait to book flight and hotel?

I'm not absolutely sure what his rating is.  This is what I was posting about before but I went out of town and haven't been able to be on here.

Our SR has said: He's going to be in Pensacola FL for school after RTC. Aviation Fueling.

Do not know what if anything has changed.  Our first call was not long and the 2nd, yesterday, it was very difficult to hear him. Couldn't ask any questions really because we couldn't hear much of his answer. I think the phone he was on had a long distance connection issue...

Grayce:  You may want to join the Pensacola A School group on here if you haven't already and ask specific questions on there of those ladies, who have already been through some of this.

Here's the link to one of them:
