OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Grayce:  Sigh....this "rumor" pops up in many PIR groups and as far as we know, has never happened.  They "hold" the new sailors normally at the A School until they can class up....times vary....some may "hold" 2 mos or so (happened to a friend of ours)....my son held for about 10 days when he arrived at his.  It is possible that they sometimes hold for a few days at RTC if the A School has no physical space for them yet, but they need to get them off of RTC as soon as possible so they are ready to accept more SRs.

No, they do not get to come home on LEAVE before A School but what he could have been referring to is that the A Schools go on "Stand Down" during the Christmas holidays, and they usually allow the students some Leave time then...it is up to the A School to determine when and for how long.

Our SR said that he's going to be on hold for his school for 45 days...? And he may have to stay at RTC...

Possibly at Pensacola but may get to come home for two weeks. Anyone heard anything like this?  I knew he may get held for school but over a month??...

Worried...

Divisions start going through BS the week before PIR. Diannep will be gathering a list as dates come in. If you get a date from your SR please message diannep with the information. Remember BS dates cannot be posted on this site!

Thanks Diannep for the all the hotel reviews.  It was helpful. I have been going back and forth all weekend trying to decide what one to book.

elsmom sorry to hear your recruit is out of air crew. These young soldiers take their jobs so seriously. I agree with you that if she has had some time to process and is ready to shift her thinking her resilience as an SR will carry her through to a new "right job".
Good luck!
