For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

A quick note here: Last Names of Recruits/Sailors are not allowed on this site. If it is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture.

Comment by diannep on March 27, 2012 at 4:34pm: Vicki: You are in the right group. 147 is brother division to 148 (they train together) and PNSCTN received her form letter for 148 saying this is the group. So that confirms what your form letter said too...as FTLW said, the form letter is the accurate info so go by the info on that! You are in the right place!

The RTC website (not the FB page) will post the information soon hopefully. they have a page with all the Upcoming Graduations. I check it and as soon as it comes up...I will add it to the Name of the group. ; - )

She probably got there just as the last PIR groups were forming for this PIR date so she won't have as many processing days as some others will have. The same thing happened with my daughter and she had PIR a full week before we had calculated. So I am sure you are in the right place. :-) Welcome to your PIR Group!!! If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Comment by VickiW Ship12 Div 147 PIR5/11 on March 27, 2012 at 3:26pm: My daughter left for GL on 3/19 and I got her letter yesterday saying PIR was 5/11/12, which seemed soon to me I expected it to be later then that. She is Ship 12 Div 147. Can anyone confirm that 5/11 is the correct PIR date or where can I go to find that information out?

Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on March 27, 2012 at 1:17pm: For the Dress White uniforms you will want to keep Shout Wipes close by. They are great for spills and stains. Sometime they are hard to find but some stores have them in the travel section with travel size shampoo and such items. They do sell them in the NEX so be sure and tell your Sailor about them. You will also want to protect your Sailors uniform with your hand when you go to hug them at PIR to keep make-up from getting on their uniform :-)

I ask because of course most of us don't memorize all of the numbers...we have "the name" in our phone. Obviously, they don't have their phones! Sooo....if you are concerned that your SR may not remember cell numbers, please write them a letter today and include those important cell numbers so when it is time to call, they can! :-)

Comment by diannep on March 27, 2012 at 12:35pm: Your sailors will be the first group after the "changeback" into the Dress Whites...so that is what they will be in for PIR! They do this seasonally, but it is not always at the exact same time each year. I believe they changed back in April last year.

Got the form letter yesterday and thankfully he wrote a short note on the back! The note and the countdown clock has made this experience very exciting. The anticipation for PIR mounts everyday!
