Did not get my box yet but did get my letter today. My son... already following orders... there was only the information he had to fill out and that was it. Nothing else at all. At least I know he's still there and doing what he's told I guess. :)
Nancy, My husbands recruiter isn't easy to get a hold of, So hopefully my letter will be coming soon.
Another one with Ship 11 DIV 141. my son Jesse.

Got my box today! anyone else receive theirs?
Nancy I just bet that is what he is doing. They have to volunteer to be in the preforming division then they have to tryout for band, choir etc. Sounds like he won't have any problems getting in :-) He can already march and that is a huge deal in bootcamp. They do wear a gold/yellow cord on the uniform when they preform but I am not sure what it is called. I will try to remember to ask my Sailor when I talk to her again.
You can start a discussion above these comments to be able to talk to other family members with a recruit in your division. Just click on Add a Discussion above. That is a great way to get to know those who have recruits close to yours. Just remember to post any questions you may have here on this main board so that one of us can answer them for you. We check this page multiple times each day but we don't always have time to check the discussion pages because we are helping on 5-8 PIR groups at a time.
Remember although first names are allowed on this site sometimes it is best to share names in a private message and never post last names on this site. It is a public site and we are all asked to abide by this rule to prepare us for when our Sailors are in the fleet or deployed. You never know who could be watching any public site in search of information and it makes it easier to get used to it early :-)
Yay, another group. I know you are all anxious to get started and have this bootcamp experience behind you :-) The good thing is you shouldn't have to worry about snow in May lol. And I am sure your Sailors will graduate in the Dress White Uniforms or Cracker Jack's as they are sometimes called. Shout Wipes will become your Sailors new best friend lol.
I am Lora, better known as Lala the Ribbon Queen lol. I have been helping on this site for almost 2 years. My daughter left for bootcamp May 25th 2010. I cannot believe it has been that long. It seems like on a few short months ago. I know 8 weeks seems like an eternity but it will be over before you know it. The days will drag but the weeks pass quickly :-) For now get your pen to paper and start writing those letters. Mail call is the sweetest sound in the world to the recruits other than when they get to call home and hear your voice :-)
If you have any questions at all please ask them on this page. There are several of us who are hear every day helping out and answering questions. Welcome to your PIR Group.
Inthenavy- I hope so too, when I read your name the first thing in my head was "you can sail the seven seas, in the Navy..." lol
Gail, I know it is a great feeling just being able to get those letters in the mail :-)
Nancy- that means your recruit is in the preforming division. You will have to find out if he is in the band, choir, drill team, flag corp or will be working in some other area during graduations. My daughter was also in the preforming division. She was in the choir and it was a great experience for her and for us. Let me know if you have questions about this division or anything else.
I am so excited to get to know all of you :-)
For now, start writing those letters and write every day if you can. They live for mail call and even if they told you not to write that much or once a week would be plenty they will change their mind faster than you can lick the first stamp lol.
Thank you Gail and FireTeamLeaderWife... really appreciate everything. Yes, this site has been a Godsend to myself as well. It has helped me a lot before and after my son left.
