Kim, you will soon be able to talk, text etc..  I am in contact with my son almost daily now, I promise it will get better. Hang in there!!!

Kim:  I hope that you will feel better since you should be in more constant contact now with your son.  He may not be in GL, but hearing his voice more often should do you good, I hope!

I miss my sailors so bad. This feels like it's all over. I feel like I have no purpose in life. Being that I live in Great Lakes it's hard to bielieve my son is no longer there.

AaronsMom: I think I cried pretty much the whole way home and then some, lol but my drive was only 2 and a half hrs.

B Daniel- sorry you had to ride the train alone! If I had seen your post Friday night, you could have ridden over with me & Kiddo in the car. :( briefly saw you in the uso I think. I was barely awake and scatter-brained. Was great meeting you this weekend! And your kids are adorable! :)

Wow, what a weekend!  PIR was fabulous! Our Sailor is on hold, so we were able to spend Friday, all day Saturday and even some time with him this morning.  It was great, but so hard to leave him. (I think I cried for the first 3 hours of our 6 hour drive home.)  He's not certain, but hoping to be shipping out Monday or Tuesday to Pensacola.  After that we'll get him home again for about 3 weeks and then he's shipping out to Japan.

Happy Mothers Day, everyone!  I know this weekend was probably one of the best Mother's Day presents ever!  :-)

Comment by kimstn on May 13, 2012 at 9:58am

Wow! what a great weekend!  My son was so self-assured, self confident and just had a great time with him.  He had been RPOC for his division, so he evidently had to reign in on the order giving part of his adventure once he was with us.  He was only indecisive when it came to choosing a restaurant - and he had some trouble figuring out how to eat wearing all white without mishap!  lol  Once that was done, we were off and running and had a great day.

He is off to Pensacola and we are already discussing a trip to see him since he can have days off base starting next Saturday.  In a few weeks, he will be allowed weekends off base too.  Hope to spend is 19th birthday with him in FL!!!

Thanks for sharing this journey everyone and Bravo Zulu for your new Sailors
