Linda, You are welcome. I am so sorry that you can't make PIR. You might want to ask someone on this page, to find your SR and take pictures for you, so you can have them. During A school, they usually only have classes during the week, as far as I know. Of course on some weekends while there, he will have to work duty. I can understand how hard it will be to wait to see him, but maybe you could try and plan a trip to see him in FL after school is out? I was able to see to get to Pensacola 3 times while my son was in A school for visits. Once they have phased up to Phase 3, they are then allowed to leave the base usually from Friday afternoon after 4p.m. until around 8 or 9p.m. on Sunday night.
Betsy- Thank you! That actually helped a lot because I was more confused if their time in A school which is 6-8 weeks counted weekends. I suppose it doesn't? I am definitely keeping mind that things can happen and my plans are bound to change. I guess I just wanted some estimation of time before I get to see him again since I am unable to attend his PIR because I have final exams that day which really sucks.
@BCmom...SO HAPPY you can all be together for PIR!!!!
Linda, it looks like the AM A school training is about 43 days long, (not including weekends, I would think) but I wouldn't make any preparations for a trip home just yet, because, as we know, with the Navy anything could happen. There is really no telling right now, when he will be able to get home.
I did look at the priority small flat rate box and it stated if it was mailed on Friday 5/4, then it would arrive there on Monday 5/7/11,so that would still be plenty of time for graduation. I just don't want her to get in trouble with her RDC either. I did send her a couple of letters telling her I was getting ready to mail it and to check in with her RDC to let them know it was coming.
@moda: no I have not mailed it yet. I was going to wait until Monday to do it as well. I am going to put a hair straightner in the pacakage as well, becuase she complains about her hair in every letter.
I'm so excited. PIR is soon approaching! My sailor will be going to Pensacola for A school! :) He wrote in the letter that he will be shipped out Saturday morning but A school won't officially start for him until May 21st. Do anyone knows how long AM's are in A school for ? I just wanted to make plans for him to come home and wanted some estimation for how long it would take. :) BTW Hope everyone's enjoying their weekend! After this weekend, we just have one more weekend to go ^_^! I'm ecstatic!
