crazyd: No, they won't give you extra time with him that night, and he will be bussed to the airport at 2 a.m. to wait for his flights. Hopefully you can meet him out there and spend some time with him before his flight. Many do this and even get gate passes to wait at the gate with him. Be sure to take advantage of that! He won't be flying out at 2 a.m., I promise you that. But he will be leaving RTC and heading to the airport then.
VickiW, Yes you can send it now and I would definitely do it very soon. You are only a couple of weeks out. They will just keep it in their rack until PIR day.
Our son informed us that he has to leave at 2am Sat. after PIR. We're driving a 2000 round trip just to see him. It really stinks but, we'll treasure every second with him - hopefully they'll give him a little extra time in the evening to be with us.
so can we send the make-up now and marke the box for PIR or do we have to wait until they ask for it. I just don't want it to be to late and have to overnight the box. I know she is really upset becuase her face and skin is breakout from the soap that they use
They can also have the powder foundation, that is what I sent and it was easier to find than liquid foundation in a plastic bottle. I also sent mascara and eyeliner. I didn't send any other makeup because she was told only the very basic stuff. I guess it depends on the RDC. You can send it in a small bubble envelope or wrap it in bubble wrap and send it in a small flat rate Priority box. It may get there a little quicker. If you can mark the outside of the packge with the contents. Such as: Makeup for PIR or Contacts for PIR. That will make it a little easier for them when it arrives. If sending contacts and solution make sure it is a very small bottle of solution no bigger than 3oz and put it in a separate zip-lock bag to protect it from spilling. Guys and girls can have their contacts :-)
As soon as she was in the car after PIR she wanted lotion lol.
Regarding the make-up question...I just went through this with my daughter a few weeks ago, her PIR was 04-20. I was allowed to send liquid foundation, (plastic container they dont want glass) neutral eyeshadow, light blush, mascara, eyeliner, and a light lip color. I found a tinted chap stick. I mailed it all in a small bubble pack. They are also allowed to wear one set of small silver ball earings at PIR only so if you can put those in with your make up she will be ready. I didnt find out about the earings until the week of PIR and had no way to get them to her in time so she put them on right after PIR for our pictures.
Adding to the comments concerning the make up request, they are also permitted to wear contact lenses, if they don't wish to wear their BCG's, for PIR. You can mail those to them a few weeks before PIR, but make sure that you also include a very small bottle of contact solution, as well.
For those who have not already, please read the BattleStations discussion above for more info!
