For a group with 12 divisions this group is really quiet. Where is everyone? I know, I bet you all are busy writing letters to some very special recruits :-)

Comment by diannep on April 17, 2012 at 9:31am

Good morning, everyone!

The length of the calls varyies from division to division, and just getting a call also varies--totally up to the individual RDCs.  They can have "scheduled" calls and then miss them for some reason...not enough time, having a "watch", etc.  Better to just have that phone handy at all times...just in case.  Some wonderful SRs in the past have given their call to another SR who had not been able to speak to his/her family.  We see posts like that in these groups and it warms our hearts!

So just be ready at any time.  Cell phone goes everywhere with you...to the bathroom and to the mailbox!  Calls have been missed during these times!

I think the call she is talking about usually comes about the 4th week they are there or the half way point. This call is normally about 30 min long or maybe a little longer. It varies for each division and they can call more than one person. So some who only get to talk for a few minutes could be because they called someone else first or want to when they hang up :-) The calls can be shorter if the division isn't doing as well as the recruiter would like or if their scheduled time to use the phones comes to an end. Hopefully you will all get nice long calls. I have my fingers crossed for ya ;-)

christinex013..i had the same question all this weekend..and i've been looking for answers..my son wrote in the letters that he will be in A school for 6months and that his wife and daughter can move with him. so he wrote that he is going to put the paper works in so he can start looking for a place for them..not really sure but hope everything will work out for them..

Kim, When are they supposed to get this 30 minute phone call? That's exciting!

Comment by Kim on April 16, 2012 at 6:15pm

Christine I don't know if there is a lot you can do but you could ask and maybe get better info on the group page for his A-school or rate. You could also start looking for places online. That could speed up the process and give you an idea about where things are in relation to the base. I am sure someone from the  A-school page will have some info that could help you more :-)

Hey, so I have a question...my husband just told me in a letter that his a-school is going to be 34 weeks long (8.5 months) Originally we thought it was only 22 weeks ( 5.5 months) so we didnt think the navy would pay for the move. Does know if there is anything I need to do to get the ball rolling on the move? Or if I need to wait for my hubby to graduate and deal with it when he gets down there? Any help is greatly appreciated!!

@VickiW. It breaks my heart to find out they are still not working well together. I wish they could get it together so their lives would be easier.
