rluv 76 ~ Congrats on your daughter's promotion. I have sent pics to my SR daughter several times by minimizing 6 or so and printing on one page ~ that way she has them all on one page, it's easier to keep up with, than lots of loose pics. I've even used a couple of pics at the top of the paper, so it looks like stationary ~ she loves them and appreciates them so much!! Happy Weekend!!
I believe the SRs are offered this, kimstn. It is up to the SRs to complete the forms and then RTC mails them. I tried to submit directly to my newspaper and they wouldn't take it back when my son was there. Other newspapers may be different, though. Not sure.
Question - do they still give the paper to the SR's to complete for release in their hometown papers as graduation announcement? I queried and see that they said in 2010 that all you need do was take photo over to your newspaper if you wanted that included; otherwise, RTC handles submitting to your local editor. In 2011 - there is a form that we could use as parents to complete and provide to our hometown paper.
Does RTC still do that ? or is the post outdated?
thanks,
Kim
Added a MARLINSPIKE Discussion up above. MARLINSPIKE is done near the end of Training week three.
Thanks so much everyone. It is awesome when your Sailor finally is out of bootcamp or finished with school and you can go and visit them and spend time with them. It seems like she was at bootcamp just a few months ago but it has been almost 2 years. Time flies once they get out of bookcamp.
Anna, I am so glad you liked your ribbons and scarves :-)
Good morning everyone, I finally have a minute to log on and see how everyone is doing. We went to Colonial Williamsburg yesterday and walked all day. I must have slept wrong because this morning I have a lot of pain in my neck and can't turn my head to the right. Then I stubbed my toe and I'm pretty sure it's broken so putting on my tennis shoes was not much fun. Happy Friday the 13th lol. I hope you all have a great day and wonderful weekend. Two more days with my Sailor and then I head back home to my hubby. Definitely bittersweet.
Good Morning everyone!
My Dear Beloved PIR groups,
Please forgive me for not being on much lately. I am afraid I just have to be away for a while as I have pressing things here at home. I do read every day and try to answer where I can.
I am so thankful to be able to be a part of a team of ladies where I know we support each other while trying to support all of you who are going through this. I am thankful for the wonderful group creators who step up and take care of their PIR groups...and all of you moms/wives/Fiancés/GF/BF/Aunts/Uncles/Dads/Grandparents/Siblings and Friends who support each other on here. This site is dear to my heart.
Right now I will continue to read and post where I can, focus on helping to start the new PIR groups, answer any questions specifically directed at me and be available for any and all private messages. Those will be my priorities… I am hoping to be back in full swing soon.

itzlogansmom - my husband says that they get IT on a daily basis even multiple times a day so dont worry, its normal!
Vicki: Ahhhh....yes. Mail call is what they live for. If any hear of SRs not getting any mail (through your SRs), get their names and post on here that you have them. I'm sure that many on here would love to write to them---they can contact you by private message...names need to be shared by private message though.
