Are you including P days in your week count?

Comment by FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW on March 31, 2012 at 9:34am

Well...some get Security Clearance info calls. Recruits that have a rating that they are going into that requires security clearance ocassionally call home for more info. This call can come within the first week or two after arrival...sometimes it comes later or not at all if not needed. This is usually just a business call...short and to the point. Once in a while the person monitoring the call grants some grace and allows a "visit" but don't expect it.

The first "real" call can come at the end of Training Week 3...so about four weeks after arrival...but we have seen as early as at the end of Training Week two...three weeks after arrival. My sons Division got one at the end of Week 2 becasue their Division did so well on their first academic test. ;-)

Its the 3rd weekend... its getting tougher!  I miss my husband a lot.  Any ideas when the first phone call might be?

No...I haven't. Have always heard of Dress Uniform for PIR day.

rluv76 - Just to check ...did you mean  Dress Blues on PIR day...then NSU's aka Peanut Butters (Black pants,Khaki top) on the next day?

Welcome Linda, I hope you get a letter soon :-) Maybe even today!!!

Diannep, FTLW, and other veteran moms, have you heard of them changing out of dress uniforms on PIR day? That is a new one on me.

Welcome Linda!

"Real" letters just started coming in this last week. So hopefully soon! Make sure you keep that cell phone with you at all times! Be on the watch for an "847" area code. Also, "US GOVERNMENT" or "PAY PHONE".

Hello everyone,

My boyfriend left for BC on March 12 so I thought that I would be receiving a letter from him by now but I haven't :( I don't have any information about his form letter because his family lives in Indiana and North Carolina and I live all the way in Texas. Communication between me and his family is definitely difficult. I have only receive one phone call from him telling me that he is at basic training and that I would receive a call in a couple weeks. I'm just really torn apart and just really anxious to find out some answers. I just want to know if he's doing okay. I hope that I receive a letter this week. I can't stop going to the mailbox :/ Am I the only one still waiting for a letter to come in????

They normally wear the Dress uniform the whole day after PIR. They wear the Peanutbutters on Saturday if they have Liberty again (those staying in Great Lakes for A-school). They also wear the dress uniform to travel in so that is what they will have on at the Airport.

Sorry I was away all day, after subbing for HS art I took my stepdaughter to get her driver license today and she passed YAY, that means I no longer have to drive her to school each morning or pick her up in the afternoon. She and my son leave at 5 am tomorrow morning for the Senior Trip and will gone for a week to Washington DC and NY City. So exciting for them, so expensive for us lol. I guess we will have a little taste of what being empty nesters will be like for the next week. Wish me luck lol.
