Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

He wore his dress blues at graduation and that day /night/ next day he wore the black pants tan dress unifrom. Those where the two he could wear. He said white is for summer. U can see pictures of his graduation on my page.get there early so u can get a seat in front of there division. If u have more than the 4 allowed they make you wait and seat you last.

Comment by diannep on March 30, 2012 at 1:22pm: Jessica: It is a good idea to go ahead and book your hotel. They have generous cancellation policies (as long as you don't go through something like Expedia, etc) when dealing directly with the hotels. Usually can cancel the day before or the day of PIR if necessary. The ones with larger suites (Residence, Springhill Suites, etc) will go more quickly so those for sure need to be booked early. There is a theme park nearby so some hotels may fill up from that. Not sure when it reopens after winter though.

Comment by diannep on March 30, 2012 at 1:01pm: Nancy: Days are only number 1-5. Weekends/holidays don't count in the day count. So if they are on 1-5 today (Fri), they will be on 2-1 on Monday. Each division/brother division may be on different day counts, although it is possible that 4 divisions are on the same day count. Not always.

WooHoooo! We got his letter! It sounded just like him in the room saying, you wouldn't believe this but...(quote) before I started this, I had to shine my boots and fold my underwear (tighty whiteys of course)...

He said thx for all the letters, they passed out about nine letters today and five of them were mine!

Sounds like he's adjusting very well now that the "sit and wait to hear your name phase" is over, he's ready to get down to business!
