WhitsMom: She most likely is a GradNGo (they don't use that term anymore, supposedly, but means she ships out the day after PIR).  My son flew to Meridian as well, and he left the day after PIR.

You are very welcome!

@diannep...thanks so much!

Is there a way to know if an SR is a grad and go or not? I know mine is attending "A" school in Meridian Mississippi, but so far that's all. I haven't gotten a call or letter from her and wanted to find out if there is or is not a way to find this out.

RTC still has not posted info for this TG yet...I know we are up to Div 148 though. I'll keep checking!

Thank you Lala and @diannep!  I know she will be super excited to have her phone!  I really appreciate all the adive and help that you all provide to help us know what to expect.  I was in the Army for 7 years many moons ago and the Navy is very different from what I experienced.  I appreciate all of you!  thank you.

Their first pay usually comes in after they have been there 4 weeks or so.  Could be a little earlier.  My son arrived Thanksgiving week in 2009 and got his first pay the first week in January.  After that...they are paid every two weeks.  If with Navy Fed, their pay goes in a day earlier ... 14th and 30th.

Vicki:  You may want to take a few civilian clothes for her to keep ntil she can wear them.  Like Lala said, they have to "phase up" before they can wear them.  You can ship her the rest later if she will be in A School for a while.

VickiW- after PIR you will see her for a few min then they move the their new base across the street. It takes 4 or 5 hours. Then she can call you to pick her up for a couple hours maybe 3. Then you take her back to the A-school base. She can take her cell phone back to the new base with her. She will be able to tell then what she can have and can't have. She will call you Sat and SUN if you are still there and you can pick her up and spend the day with her. She may have watch at some point but not for too long. I would plan to stay as long as you can and return home late Sunday or even Monday if you can. I would take her laptop with you just in case they let her have it. You can always mail civilian clothes to her. They won't be allowed to wear them for about 2 weeks anyway. Not until they phase up.

Got my first letter - so exciting to hear from him.  At the time he was writing, he had only seen one of my letters evidently.  He said it was true that mail from home is like GOLD and that some guys passed around letters to share with others.  Said he had read "that letter like 100 times"; won't he be surprised when the others I and family have sent start to pile up on him!!!  I did take the advice and sent him an addressed large manilla envelope today to send back any of the mail he wants me to safely store for him.

He hates needles and said that was hard for him to get through.  But he did survive it (I knew he could! lol)

Said for us to keep the mail coming and he can't wait to see us on May 11th.  Does my heart good to see that scrunched up tiny writing crammed on two pages!  Thanks everyone for being here to share with me.

My daughter is staying in GL for A school, so are we allowed to bring them any thing like clothes, cell phones or computers for them to keep?  Or are we going to have to mail them once we get back from PIR?  I thought I read somewhere that they will check into A school if staying if GL before they go on Liberty after PIR.  So, just trying to plan ahead on what I should pack for her.
