Does anyone know the history of the huge old anchor in front of a railroad bridge in Camp John Paul Jones. The railroad seperates Camp John Paul Jones and Camp Porter. My son is at RTC and they run by it, but he doesn't get to stop and see what it says. He said he's ask some of the RDCs and their answer is "an old ship". HAHA My son is a history buff, and I am too. He has always enjoyed studying nautical history, so he probably would know about the sihp, whatever it was. Any help is…

I'm not one to blog about anything! I'm not a writer, and I usually prefer to keep my business private, but since this will probably effect future Navy Mama's I chose to share. As soon as I got my form letter from my SR with his PIR date I made reservations with the first hotel I stumbled upon. After doing some more research I decided to stay at a different hotel (The Ramada) (FYI, not much better in my opinion) and called back The Great Lakes Hotel to cancel my…

I just got off the phone with my son. His voice sound so good to his mothers ears I told him. He is doing good and he has got the letters from me and his family. He said they help so much and he has read every one of them. Hearing his voice made me very very happy. Thankyou again for all the love and support everyone has given me. Many blessings to you all.

My name is Mary and my youngest son of three left for boot camp on Tuesday the 26th. I am still having a hard time talking to people about it because I start crying everytime. Those who haven't been through this think I am nuts.He is the first in our family to join any military branch so it is all new to me. I was so happy to hear about this website to share feelings and get information.
