I was reading on another post, a spouse is on HOLD status after completing A school because of student loan debt? Isn't that something that the recruiter is aware of before the recruit goes in? I know my daughter has accumulated debt because of student loans and some others, but she is making arrangements now after completing boot camp. Is that all the Navy is wanting to see that she is making arrangements to pay back the debt?

Well, our girl is anxiously waiting her departure for A School. Talked to her yesterday and hopefully sooner than later. I am thankful for all the things available for the sailors to occupy their time while they are in transition. She seems to be more relaxed these last few phone calls. I am truly thankful. Lord, continue to be a fence about our girl and all those new recruits, new sailors, and all serving withing the armed…

I received my first letter and phone call from my son. He actually cried which is something I haven't seen him do in years. He had lots to say. It was like someone gave me back my heart that's been missing for 3 weeks. He says it's hard but he sounds like he's dealing. Can't wait for graduation so I can lay my eyes on him and wrap my arms around him. This time it will feel different. I'll never take those hugs for granted ever again.

Well, our girl did it! and because she was in 923 Division, they carried state flags, honor guard (I think) and one other thing (I can't remember). Graduation was the most regimented ceremony I have ever attended. Not your average High School graduation. I can appreciate all the rules, because there is so much going on and so many family members in attendance. Our girl and her division did an excellent job. I was their 3rd graduation by that time, so they had down by then. She…

I can remember it like it was just yesterday on July 9,2015 that my son was swearing in and we had a year until he left for boot camp. Now here it is today and we only have 76 days until he leaves on July 5,2016. I can't believe how fast the time has flown by. He graduates from high school next month and then we are going to go on a last family camping trip before he leaves. This is my oldest son. His brother is 11 and I think is having a hard time knowing that his brother will be leaving…

The ship her father proposed to me on when I visited for the Independence Day cruise some 27 years. I thought I'd never see that ship again. Nor did I care to, I couldn't wait for shore duty. Little did I know, my daughter who had not even been thought of at that time would end up serving in the future. And now the day has come for her to check-in on the Ike. It feels surreal. I am still not looking forward to her deployment. I dread it. A navymom is totally different from a…

I just wanted to talk a little bit about my most humbling and awe- inspiring experience with my sailor this weekend. I never in a million years would have thought this would be as amazing as it was. I feel like I am now a part of an exclusive and unique group of people who have so much to be proud of. I have never been a fan of the military, but was at my wit's end with my son. He was miserable after a breakup of a long-term relationship, stuck in a dead- end job, and despised school. This…

Received the much anticipated phone call from my son regarding completion of Battle Stations! Div 154 completed Battle Stations around 7am this morning. They are now officially Sailors!!! So very proud of my son, as well as the entire Division. Way to go Sailors!!!!! Can't wait to see them all at graduation on Friday, April 15th.
Hello all,
It finally came. Her first letter home. She had some free time to write a couple letters on Sunday April 2nd and it arrived in Washington on Thursday April 8th so that should give you some time frame of postal transit.
She wrote to me and her boyfriend and his family.
She said week one was a tough one because they are processing so many recruits. She is not a fan of showering with 85 women but she finally was going to get to take a real shower now that…

Son now at Boot Camp (left WA 4/2 and reported in IA last week to go to GreatLakes). My heart is full as I wait for his package to arrive. I think about him each time my phone rings (and more). I know he will be fine but my heart skips a beat hoping it is not a "bad" call. I worry that I have no idea when he will graduate (other than around 8 weeks). I am a little leery to purchase plane tickets without knowing when. It is a lot of money to fly 3 to Chicago. I fear purchasing for the…

Its Sunday and I got to thinking about religious services offered at the RTC chapel. If you aren't familiar with the RTC chapel the link to the website is HERE.
We're mainline Protestant, so my daughter felt comfortable with several of the services. She ended up favoring one that had the best music. She…
