Are there a lot of uber’s in the area? Or are they hard to get in Waukegan?

Has anyone ever used Sandboxx to book their flight to graduation? If so, is the Travel Plus Program legit?
I go from having a sob fest on his bed while he is gone to the gym to and immense sense of pride in all he is striving to do with his future. I look at him and I still see that little boy who slept in my lap at church on Sunday mornings. I see that sweet little boy who loved to watch Toy Story and drag his Woody Doll everywhere we went. I see that sweet little boy running around with his Bibleman Cape on. I see the little boy who loved playing soccer. I see my little boy who always wanted…

I haven't posed in a while and it will probably be a while before I post again. My son graduated from Bootcamp and is safe in A School. He has Classed up and gets to wear Civilian Clothes, have his cell phone and take weekend liberty. You would think that I would hear more from him. Nope, I get updates only after I repeat the question and it is as short as possible. I will have a party if I can get a complete sentence out of him. He and his sister text back and forth while I hear…

What is up with all the bouts of pneumonia?? I got a call this evening from my fiancé that he’s in the hospital because of it. I told him that I hope he gets well soon, I know he’s disappointed that he’s going to probably be set back a week because of this. On the upside, he caught me before I purchased my plane tickets and made the rest of my travel plans.

What is the best way to deliver my form letter to ensure my SR receives it? Does everyone mail it and it's been okay?
I just received my form letter today and ready to send out but I wanted to see how the majority is done to make sure he receives it.
Thank you

I had an idea for my sons allowed “address book” before he shipped off to boot camp but I wasn’t sure if it would pass or not. It did and he was able to keep it so I thought I’d share the idea with everyone. We took a small colored memo book, 80 sheets, tape bound (not wire bound) and only 3 1/2" x 4 1/2". In the front I wrote out all of the addresses and phone numbers he wanted to take with him. Then I printed labels for the same addresses and I bought stamps…the labels and stamps have a…

Working on the list of things to do before our son ships. Learning lots of things as he has never been so open in his discussions before. We have always had the open door you can tell us anything policy, but seems I am meeting a grown man standing where my baby used to stand. I love his willingness to learn and the fierceness of his passion on things he cares most about. I truly cannot wait to see what his future holds and I pray the opportunity he now possesses will take him places I can…

If anyone is looking for a room for PIR August 3rd, Unfortunately, we had to cancel our reservation at Navy Lodge Great Lakes. You may want to call soon and see if you can get the room. They had really good rates.

Thank you for the comments, suggestions, input, and especially your experience. Everything is so new. New lingo, new places, new fears, new joys, and a new way of letting go. I never thought seeing handwriting and hearing a voice would mean so much to me.
It is my hope each of you have received a letter or a call, if not both. I learned how easy it is to send a Sandboxx letter tonight! It's Awesome! I even added a selfie in the Navy hat my son gave me for Mother's Day!

Hi Moms and Family,
First timer here! I have found out that my son has a graduation date is the 10th of August. Does anyone have any hotel ideas? We have not received the info yet on the near by hotels/tickets and am worried the closest will sell out. Since I'm driving from Az. Id like to get on this sooner then later.

Time is slipping by so fast and in just a few short weeks my baby boy will leave for RTC and then out into the world of the Navy. We are beyond proud of him and all he has accomplished. My husband is 71 and I am 57, so this young man was a very special blessing from day one. Our oldest son will soon be 31 and has three daughters (he is an army vet). Our recruit turns 19 about 9 days before his ship date. He insists we don't make any kind of fuss over him, so we will do our best. He will be a…

I got home yesterday from watching my son graduate from Bootcamp. I was shocked to see a man standing in front of me. He had a confidence that I have not see before (he had plenty of cocky before). The ceremony was beautiful. I am so proud that my son worked hard and stuck to it and is now going to A school. I can not correctly describe the feels and emotions. Anyone reading my blog, encourage your SR. Tell them it is worth it. Navy Moms has been a blessing in helping me get through this. …
