*Touch-Down* - My 3rd Letter From My Sr.

I just got home & FOUND a LETTER in the mail from my son. Apparently it came last Fri 7/19 or Sat 7/20 & my husband didn't see it. In many ways I am *Happy*  :) but Sad. I could not read the Letter from crying. He said it was hard for him to hold back the tears while writing to me.

First Call

We got our first call yesterday and my son is so homesick to the point of questioning his decision to join. He left for boot camp July 10th so he has only been gone for 18 days. I managed to hold it together until we hung up and then proceeded to cry like a baby.

Has anyone else gotten similar calls? He is only 18, lived a very sheltered life thanks to this very (too) protective mom, he is missing his girlfriend and was just so sad. All I can think about now so any words of advice…

#2 Phone Call

I got my 2nd phone call today from my Sailor, Ship 3 Div. 328.  He sounded good, said it's getting easier and 4 weeks left.  He is still glad he decided to join the Navy.  No regrets.  This makes me feel happy.

Today is my day to cry for no reason

For a Mom who is always the strong one who everyone else leans on in hard times today is that day that nightmares are made of.  I am so emotional for absolutely no reason. My SR has not given any indication that anything is wrong there, my other children and grandchildren seem to be happy and healthy but I simply can not go ten minutes without crying.

I really just want work, people, traffic.....well, everything to just go away. I know that this is not helpful to me or any of my kids…

Roots and Wings

I have always believed in the old saying that the very best thing we as parents can give our children is roots and wings...the. My mamma bear rears its ugly head. Earlier this week when I got that first phone call I remember taking a deep intake of breath...he sounded so very tired...and I could hear with my heart so much more than he was saying. I would have won an academy award with keeping the gears out of my voice...doing all the things that the veteran moms said...encouragement...keep it… Continue

Should we get married before A or after A school? I really need help!

Thanks for taking some time and checking out my blog! I'm new and suuuper confused! I could use all the help I can get :)

My fiance just signed up for the Navy in May of this year. A week after he met with the recruiter, he proposed :)! I'm so excited but we haven't made plans yet, nor set a date! We're afraid to make any plans because there is no telling what will change in the next couple of months as far as A school and shipment days go.

He is leaving Sept. 5th of…

Feeling Overwhelmed but yet so Proud and Elated.

As a mom with 5 kids with all but one grown up and over the age of 18 it was a shock for my youngest daughter (#4 of the 5 kids) to tell me at the beginning of her senior year that she was joining the Navy.  I felt fear and pride at the same time.  It was not difficult to accept her choice to join the Navy it was difficult to accept that she would be gone from where I could be actively involved in her day to day life.  Her Dad and I divorced almost 6 years ago and she chose to live with her…

My Son

My oldest son (19) left yesterday for BC in Illinois.  I am a wreck.  Did nothing but cry yesterday.

I have another son age 17 who has one more year in Tech School.  Please can someone put my

mind at ease about what goes on there.  I here many diff things.  I sometimes don't think I will

be able to do this waiting without crying everyday.  I am very proud of him, believe me.  His dad

passed away in 2011 and I know he misses him very much and would have loved for…

HI LIZ'S MOM

I TOO UNDERSTAND YOUR FRUSTRATION. MY SON WENT TO BC 12/05/12. THEY DISCHARGED HIM WITH ERRONEOUS ENTRY- HAVING ADD. WHILE THERE HE WAS TOLD IN 6 MONTHS HE COULD RE-ENLIST. HE WENT BACK TO HIS RECRUITER YESTERDAY AND I UNDERSTAND HIM TO SAY HE HAS TO GO TO ANOTHER RECRUITING OFFICE FOR PEOPLE WHO WERE DISCHARGED AND WOULD ONLY BE ABLE--HOWEVER SLIM CHANCE--TO GO BACK IN RESERVES. NAVY IS HIS PASSION. HE REALLY WANTS A SECOND CHANCE--ANY SUGGESTIONS..PLEASE...

Need help in understanding a separation code-- getting mixed information - and she wants to re enlist

Hi everyone, so here it is.. I need help in understanding the separation code for   jfc re-e3, everything I have read on this says its for a failure for prerequisite education, like not graduating high school- which she did,and submitted it- Legal and her recruiters say its a medical code.  How can i obtain the right information to fight this and get her back to BC.  Her recruiters have also said they won't work with her until she gets a code change.. this is very aggravating, and I don't…

Diversity in Experiences

I have been very surprised by the diversity of the experiences of all that comment and post to the site.  Some have had only positive experiences, some have had challenges and others have a horror story or two to tell.  What I am not surprised about is the fact that no one seems to judge others.  They pull together and try to help, to explain and to comfort.  This feeling of community and caring about each other is what I missed after moving out of the little town I grew up in to a much…
