Scary First Phone Call

Ok, I finally recieved THE phone call, and was really taken back by it. When I finally talked to my son, he really sounded scared. This is his first time to leave the nest, so I attributed his fear to the lonliness he must be feeling. Is this normal, and how did other parents cope with the feeling of utter helplessness? His dad and I both encouraged him to find the strength inside himself to face each challenge head on. Was this the right thing to do for him?

A-School

I am so happy that Danielle is adjusting well to A-school. She got her phone last week and I don't think she's ever been happier. She has been texting me alot. Man I missed that. She has also been able to call. It is so good to just get a random text or phone call or picture from her. She makes my day. She is adjusting well to A-school. She actually classed up last week and got to run a piece of equipment last Friday. She was so excited. She amazes me all the time. LOL Her being in A-school…

Can someone help me undertand how this posting, replies, etc. works.

I am new to this type of site. I have never had a facebook page or myspace page. I posted a blog and got replies. Not sure how to continue to follow the people I contacted who have children that arrived at bootcamp on the same day as mine. It seems like this could be a endless trail, and my husband is already questioning the time I am spending on here. I am guessing but not sure that I can continue to check their pages. Because of the vastness of this site and the limited time I have due to… Continue

Please reply here if your child arrived at Boot Camp on 02/16/2010

My son left Lake Charles Louisiana to go to Houton. He actually left Houston and made it to Chicago on 02/16/10. I received his call at 2:00 a.m. so I guess it was on 02/16/10, it coud be considered 02/17/10 depending on what time he hit the RTC.

Getting ready for my sons upcoming graduation

My son will be graduating March 12th. I am so excited to get to see him. I am new to the site and was just reading other posts and I know how all the mom's felt when their child went off to boot camp. It did feel like a part of me was missing. But trust me after the first three weeks it gets easier. Now I get letters regularly and it makes it easier once you hear from them. Now I am just anxious about his graduation. I asked him in a letter when does he go through battle station 21 but by…

March 9 2010

I am new on here and my son leaves on March 9 headed to boot camp. I am very proud but also very nervous and overwhelmed with emotions. I guess the not knowing and wondering how he will be or what to expect is the hardest.

Starting a new Journey

Well, I will start this to document my journey as my son, Kyle starts a new chapter in his life. At present time he is a 17 year old high school senior. He has a girlfriend, Kelsey and they have been together since last summer. Kyle decided a while back that he wanted to fly jets and was interested in the Navy. We were supportive from the get-go and continue to be. He researched his options as this is one child that uncovers all stones and makes an informed decision on everything. He applied…

this website. I already feel releived and more involved. It's like im not alone, and ALOT of my
