2 sailors on my roof!

Swamp cooler is now set up thanks to PS3 and OS2 who went up on the roof, and HNC who stayed on the ground supervising!  I emailed my CIAC yesterday and he called me today and said someone could be here in under an hour, and they were.  Thanks Navy!

Now I just have to turn it on and see if it really does work - well, it worked last summer.  If it doesn't work I'll look at replacing it with an A/C system.

She's been gone 5 whole days.

No box yet.

Recruiter doesn't have her ship/div #'s yet.

My apartment flooded (drain under hotwater heater..NOT my fault) while I was at work Saturday.

Got called in to work on my day off today.

I need a hug.

My Sailor on an IA 2

I actually got a phone call from him last night! Woohoo!  And then promptly burst into tears, which was a little embarrassing because I was at a friend's house and I don't like crying in front of people.  But it's always lovely to hear him :)

I had fun yesterday going out with friends (drank enough that I had to stay at their place, but for me that means only two beers, I'm such a light weight), and watching people watching the eclipse.

I find it difficult to ask for…

Ship 7 Div 194

Because storage space is extremely limited at Recruit Training Command (RTC), you should limit the amount of personal effects you bring, and keep luggage to a maximum of one small gym or travel bag.

If you are reporting to RTC during winter months (October through April) wear warm outer clothing – it does get cold near the lake! Keep in mind that during your in-processing you will be required to mail any item not listed below, with your excess civilian…

Bootcamp - 72 hours since arrival

Erin has been in GL for 72 hours. The first 1 1/2 days I just felt numb. I was afraid if I let myself cry I would not stop. I was consumed with worry about how tired she must be after that first 30 hours of no sleep. I felt so guilty when I woke up that first morning knowing I had slept ok, she probably didn't sleep at all. I started writing to her. And revisited the posts here with information about the first few days of bootcamp. I connected with 4 other moms, so far, who have sent their…

i have a question that i need to ask someone who is married to a sailor or will be, or is a sailor

this is my first blog so hang with me.

me and my boyfriend are new to this military thing, he said before he left that he wanted to marry me and that we would be married or at least engaged by the end of the year.

May 19, 2012

What a crazy day ahead!  So many weekends with not much to do (except of course housework) and now BAM!  Scramble time!  An auction (hopefully that 8-foot enclosed trailer will be ours!), moving a friend, 2 benefit events, city-wide garage sale, bonfire...and housework.  :)

Our daughter went to prom 2 weeks ago, and I did not recognize the young woman coming down the stairs.  I truly a got an eye-full of what the days ahead will bring.  One of them being that a wonderful adult is just…

Time difference.....

As much as love hearing from my husband, I wish the time difference didn't mean that he wakes me up most mornings.....:)  I'm usually up by 6am anyway because the dogs want feeding (haven't persuaded them to sleep longer yet), but this week it's been more like 5:30 when his messages have come through.  I suppose the answer is to not have my phone so close to my bed, but of course I don't want to miss him being online anyway........

I've now worked out that it's 2 months and 5…

Brandi!

No matter where life takes your children when they become adults you still feel they are you babies and I thank God my daughter is okay. Boot Camp is not easy and some recruits have not been able to endure. I wake up in the middle of the night thinking about my daughter and I ask God to be with her as she is on this journey called life in the United States Navy. She is following in the footsteps of her great-grandparents who served the country as well. My hats off to all the military moms…

My Sailor on an IA

It has been about 2 months since my husband left on his IA.  It has got a little easier for me over time - less time spent crying now, but I still think of him more than anything else.

Everyone always says to try to keep busy, but with my job winding down and my friends scattering for the summer I have found it really hard.  Being unemployed is not how I like to spend my summers, so I'm a lot happier today since I was offered a job! :)

There have been days when I really…
