While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

THE BUILDING OF LEMOORE NAS

In 1954, the Navy searched the Northern California-Nevada area for land to build a master jet air station - one with congestion free air space.

Lemoore was chosen because of its central location, good weather for flying, relatively inexpensive land and the nearby accommodations. Construction started in 1958. With base housing, administration facilities and the flight training areas in operation, the air station was commissioned on July 8, 1961.

Located in the San Joaquin Valley approximately 40 miles south of Fresno, CA, nearly 5,000 military and 1,000 civilian employees work onboard, with an average payroll of $120 million per year.

NAS Lemoore's primary mission is to support fleet carrier squadrons. The heart of this mission is the operations area. Designed to support more than twenty fleet squadrons, it serves as a master training center for carrier-based strike fighter squadrons of the United States Pacific Fleet.

Comment by proudofmyson on January 22, 2015 at 9:19pm: We went to Lemoore for Christmas, great vacation. We flew into San Francisco, drove to Lemoore, the Navy Lodge is a great hotel. We drove to Hollywood with our sailor, dud the Access hollywood tours, drove back know to San Francisco and saw the Golden Gate bridge, Nob Hill, Fishermans Wharf, Japan and China town. Lots of driving but it was a great vacation

I don't know if they deliver though. Otherwise you could always check and see if either Mrs. Fields or Cookies by Design can get something delivered to Lemoore by tomorrow. Good luck!

Comment by clover65 on July 24, 2014 at 10:14pm: Hello everyone, my son just got soft orders to Lemoore, while is not yet set in stone the chances of that changing are small. We are from Los Angeles area, so at least it is driving distance. Is it about 3hrs drive to LA right? What else is out there? it seems so desolate looking in the map and yet a couple hours to everywhere. How are the accommodations for a single guy? Anyway just looking for any info I can get. Thanks. This will be his first orders.

Comment by sandi8 on July 14, 2014 at 2:56pm: We had a great time in California! We flew in to LA to visit family and then drove up to Lemoore. The first day we went to San Francisco and the second day we went to Pismo Beach. Then back to LA to fly home. We stayed at the Navy Lodge right on the base and you can't beat $62 a night! If anyone is planning a trip and needs more info please feel free to PM me!
Also, my son is selling his 2009 Ford Mustang(manual transmission) before his deployment. If anyone's sailor needs a car soon let me know and I'll pass that on.
