Welcome to PIR 06/01/2012

OPSEC, OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits  are not allowed on this site. If it is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture.

Has anyone been getting calls from their recruit since BattleStations is over besides the "I am a Sailor" call?

Comment by Travis' mom on May 29, 2012 at 3:49pm

Thanks for the info on photos and video.  My SR said in his letter that he ordered $300 worth of photos, so hopefully that includes the DVD, but I just want to make sure I don't miss anything.

My thoughts and prayers are with the families of division 929.

Everyone has made valid points and being a newbie I aprreciate it.  Sorry if I stepped on any toes.  One of these days I may figure out how to relax. Safe travels everyone.

With regard to the DVD....the divisions marching in is NOT on the DVD.  I wish I had had a camera to record the divisions marching in...my Sailor's was the first division in and while I have some GREAT photos thanks to one of the mom's in our division, I don't have a recording of them doing it and it is AWESOME.  Be sure to take LOTS OF TISSUES!!!

NEX...not NE....sorry!

Comment by diannep on May 29, 2012 at 1:13pm

Travis'mom:  Yes, yes, yes!  You can video and take pictures.  But I suggest you also order the PIR DVD if your sailor didn't.  It is $29 and will "free you up" to enjoy the ceremony more, knowing that you will be mailed a DVD of it a few weeks after PIR. You can order this in the NE

Lala always suggests that you all use the time before PIR starts to experiment with your cameras to get the right angle/lighting.  I didn't do this...my piks came out dark...sigh....

Thinking you all are expecting I'm a Sailor calls from 929, possibly starting in the next 2 hours.  Phones handy!  Didn't they go through BattleStations last night?

Comment by Travis' mom on May 29, 2012 at 1:07pm

Hello everyone!  Congrats to those who have finished Battelstations and received the call.  I am almost jumping out of my skin waiting for our division.

Can we video PIR or take pictures?  I know there was a discussion about this before, but I think I missed it.

The excitement is building!!!!!

Comment by diannep on May 29, 2012 at 1:04pm

Ok, keoquilts.  Too funny....I read what you wrote: "...my hubby, bf, and gma...."

I'm thinking...she is bringing a hubby AND a bf???  HA!  Then realized you meant "the" bf ---meaning of your sailor!  Wheeew!  I was thinking there was going to be some extraordinary excitement at PIR this week!  :-)  Enjoy!

You can delete the post and just put in things that don't give specifics about BST 21. Thanks! We do get so excited. :-)
