OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Rox my daughter was close to the front so I chose to sit in the front so I can see her better. They say if your sailor in the back rows that the higher seats are better. Its a matter of preference I suppose. But seating is self service

My fondest Moment with my sailor could not be explained in full without the picture... I was diagnosed with sleep apnea and never use my CPAP machine. One night a few years later I was having a lot of problems breathing and I was really exhausted. My daughter told me that I need to wear the machine to bed that night. The problem with the machine... with anything over my face  I get freaked out. I'm a bit on the claustrophobic side. My daughter promised to wear one too (moch mask/ no machine of course) for the whole night if I did. Despite how silly she felt wearing it and how much it annoyed her, she kept it on all night. Which is better then I did. Halfway through the night I guess I tossed mine off. But my wonderful daughter woke up with hers on. She slept with me that night as she did most nights. Joys of being a single mom. Always room in the bed for the kids. LOL Gosh, I love my daughter. She has been my life support.

Rox - We got their early, and got to choose how high we sat. However, my family chose the very top bleacher, because we are all short people and knew we'd be able to see more of the ceremony from there. We were very please with our seats and our view.

Hi ladies! I need an answer from someone who has had this experience. :-) We are all checked in and I have a question. I know we are arranged by section at PIR. The hotel front desk also said at PIR they seat you from top to bottom. Is this correct? In other words, the earlier you arrive, the higher you have to sit, even if you did not want to. Please confirm, thanks!

Just getting caught up at work and trying to get adjusted to being back home.  We have came along way over these past 2 months and now he texts me all the time.  He called me today and asked how to do laundry, that he didnt have any more clean clothes to wear and had to go do laundry.  I love these little phone calls because he still needs me!  I miss him so much and I will take a phone call about laundry any day!  After not hearing from him for weeks I still can't get use to seeing him on facebook and getting these awesome text and calls.  He says that he will be able to come home in about 6 weeks then he is off to Virgina(Oceana)  He also said that he is working hard at A-school and his class wont start till tomorrow or Monday?

We also loved Sarge!  He answered all our questions and he was so nice.  We had a nice stay at the Marriot Residence Inn they all were very informative!  The Navy Pier was nice too!

Mama Lama you are so kind and funny!  Great to have a face to go with the name!  My 10 year old loved your name.....but he would not say your name, he giggled every time I said it!!!!!!!

Hi Amy, Yes, thanks for asking! She was waiting at the O'Hare airport outside security at the Starbucks with her dad and brother and two of her new friends. Easy to find after I called her brother. We ended up not going back to the gate since after she checked in to her flight with the other sailors the line she had to wait in to get our gate passes (with everyone checking in for a Delta flight) would have taken so long she'd miss her flight.

We hung out until the last minute and she caught her flight at 11:45am Saturday.

My fondest memory is when my kids was about 6 and 4,; I wasn't feeling good so I was laying on the couch and had drifted off to sleep.  I woke up to some small hands touching my face and neck.  Darius (6) said to my daughter (4) she has a fever ; he went and got me some orange juice.  I couldn't do nothing but laugh, especially since I didn't have a fever!!!

I asked Darius last night have they been able to go off base, he said  not until they're in phase 2.  He think they might class up next week.

Got to talk to my sailor a few minutes last night......soooo happy now I can actually sleep!

Fondest moment: So many to choose from. The most recent was indeed during PIR weekend. My son hugged me of his own volition for no particular reason (I hadn't just given him anything or just done something for him). He is not generally very emotionally expressive to his dad or me so that was a BIGGIE!

When my babysitter (who watched many other kids throughout the week) commented on how gentle and attentive Michael was with the smaller kids. He was an only child and did not regularly interact with smaller kids. I was very gratified that somehow even if he wasn't being shown directly, he had figured out that it is everyone's duty to watch out for the small ones. That just warmed my heart.
