Welcome to PIR 09/14/2012! A place for friends and family to stay connected!

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Kira, did you end up meeting up with your daughter at O'hare?  I talked to you when you were on your way there.

Comment by Kira (Daughter AT1 Whidbey) on September 20, 2012 at 12:19pm

My daughter has had a job since she was 16, she's always been a hard worker and only spent her money on things like gas for my car which she borrowed all the time, phone, parking tickets (San Francisco is hard to park in), and clothes. She had a big nest egg when she went into the navy. Halfway through bootcamp when she got her first paycheck, she sent me a $500 check and said, "This is for you, Mom, for all you do and to help you bring Zack [her twin brother] to me for graduation. Don't you dare not cash this." I have never worried about her and money.

Fondest memory: when Ericka was 1.5 yrs old we lived in base housing on Pt.Magu NAS. Our cute little duplex had a flower garden out front and she liked to dig in the mud while I weeded. One day she was digging and the phone rang (b4 cell phones!). I ran inside to answer it and when I came out she was completely covered in mud! I joked with her and said, "oh no! Ericka's gone! Where'd my Ericka go?" She pointed frantically to herself over and over and said, "here! Icka here!". Those were some of her beginning words and she's been called Icka or Icka Doo ever since! Even teachers refer to her by that name! Lol

Good morning Ladies! Having computer issues at work, so -km opn my phone for a while! Bleh! Maybe I should have brought my nerf gun to work! Speaking of nerf guns, I just packed 3 small ones in my care package to my daughter and her room mates!

Ok, today's question: what is your fondest memory of your sailor? (Last weekend ranks high for all of us, but let's look back a little!)

Good morning Ladies. Having an "I-miss-my-daughter" morning here. Not heating from her as much last couple of days. I know she must be beat. And with her boyfriend just deploying, she has been emotional. Wish I was there to love her through it. But I'm glad she has her new.sailor family. So I know she isn't alone.

Momof2.. I excited for you that you got to see you daughter. Its a great feeling to have that contact again.

Mamma D I have some pictures on facebook . Don't know if what your looking for but my daughter was in 298 and I got a few pics of 297 too I believe. You may add me there is you wish.

Good Morning Everyone! Hope you all have a wonderful day! Can't believe a week ago we were in Chicago...boy how this week has flown by.

Good morning Ladies! I saw my SAILOR yesterday! It was absolutely wonderful! I am so proud of her! It was very surreal! We could only visit with her at NSTC, but...that was awesome too!

We get to head down today and see her again! This going back and forth is wearing me out, but I wouldn't miss it for the world! Her medical hold is cleared and she will be heading to Pcola tomorrow or Sat. She will get her final orders today!

Lynda...Thanks so much, The check should go out today or tomorrow, sorry for the delay, but I don't know if I am coming or going at this point!

Now that we have had time to recover from PIR does anyone have Pics of Award winners or Div 297 that they are willing to share.  Most of my pics did not turn out and I am just sick about it :(  Got new camera for PIR and I think settings were wrong or Hubby was shaking to much!!!  But Pics are a blur.

Fresno mom-I remember reading somewhere that nuke school was very hard. Have you joined the nuke school moms? They probably have the 411.
