You guys are NEVER going to believe what happened to me today. There was a gentleman sitting at my bar this evening, he was pretty quiet. He just ordered a beer and dinner and kinda kept to himself( we will call him mike). I continued on working, talking with another customer ( we will call him tyson) and what do ya know Tyson is a nuke in the navy :) started talking with him about my hubby and what he is doing at boot, etc. then mike chimes in " Amanda, where did you say your husband was?" and I politely said "great lakes." mike replies with, "oh, that's cool, my nephew is there too, he graduates may 11th and we are going to his graduation" my jaw hit the floor. I had never seen this man in my life, so I asked where he was from. He said he was In town on business, from Portland Oregon ! I live in Florida! Intrigued , at this
point I asked for a little more info, which mike had to call home in orgeon to get.. What are the odds, his nephew is ship 02 div 926!!! Needless to say I played the lotto on My way home!!!!!

30 more days.... from the sounds of it I will not get to talk to my SR until the I'm a Sailor.  Luckily I can be patient at times and am going by the no news is good news.

Comment by diannep on April 10, 2012 at 8:31pm

Donna:  They start out with about 88, but lose some, and then gain more back from earlier PIR groups where a SR was delayed (asmoed) for one reason or another in training and is now ready to start back.  By PIR, they usually graduate with an average of 70-75/division, give or take some.

Does anyone know how many SR are in each Division?  (ship 09 div 145)

I got my phone call about the same time. Luckily i was at home and we got to all speaker phone talk. His birthday is tomorrow so we got to say happy bday (God is great!). He was far from smiling on the phone and just kept saying how hard it was. Did learn he sleps on top bunk, his favorite thing to eat is the cornbread, and he passed his swimming test. He survived the wisdom teeth surgery but is still sore. They are finally getting our mail, but have not been able to send theirs yet. I said we would see him in 4 more weks!!

I got a phone call!!!!  It was about 40 minutes ago and I was in the middle of Target:)  He sounded great, like he was smiling on the phone.  He said they get up at 4am and their group has TONS of IT - like 5 hours a day.  He's in pretty good shape anyway, but he said some of the workouts are like P90X on steroids.  He hurt one of the arches in his foot pretty badly, so please pray for that.  Letters and pictures printed on paper are MUCH APPRECIATED - that is their only link with the outside world.  He wanted me to post his address on Facebook so all his friends could write to him as well.  My mother's heart is bursting with joy and I am so happy and proud of him!!! @BCMOM - he says he sleeps very near your son and knows him.  Cool beans!

Vicki:  She could have had "watch" when they called, or they could have run out of time for all to make calls.  Hopefully she can call soon!
