For the dads, notice the Bass Pro Shop. Its huge.
Love the eggs! That is so cool!
@Lala beautiful!
Gurnee Mills Mall is huge and has so so many stores. Just pay attention to the time when you are there with your Sailor. It is Z shaped and if you walk from one end to the other you have to go back the same way you came. No pass through stores or halls. And for the girls, the first stop Victoria Secret for new undies, No more granny panties lol
Yes, we liked Residence Inn also...but it's been a while since we were there. We had no issues with it. But everyone has different feelings and needs in a hotel! So what's good for one may not be good for another. We liked the space we had...had older son with me so he could have his own room, yet we were in the same unit.
On the extra guests waiting now to be seated, could be that they are enforcing the waiting at the Visitors Center until all others are seated now. Maybe some "on the lists" complained? I don't know, but regardless, they should all eventually get in, extras included.
rluv, I do know that there is a nice mall in Gurnee and some hotels around the mall. It looks like a very nice area with lots of restaurants too. I'm sorry t o hear that you weren't happy with the Residence Inn, as we had a really nice experience there. Our room was very nice and the staff couldn't have been more accommodating to us. I don't know about the breakfast though, because we did eat out while we stayed there.
Some people do have their extras put on someone else's list. Just make sure you know the recruit's full name for the guest on his/her list. I will see what I can find out about any extra guest having to wait and how that worked for them we had a couple of large groups recently and we have another one coming up April 13th. The March 14th group had 14 divisions and that is the largest I have seen. I am sure they let the guests on the list go on in and the others have to come in after everyone is seated. Maybe they were unable to save them any seats. But I can tell you if I was going as an extra guest and I had to sit on the side I would still go and be very happy to be there. It is so amazing it would be so worth it. And some families who are sitting right in front of their division, upper or lower section cannot see their Sailor in a sea of White or Blue lol. Especially if they are not in the first couple of rows. It does help if you know where your Sailor will be. Like, 4th row on the far left or last row on the far right or right in the middle of the group. There may not be anything to worry about if this group isn't very large :-) But, if it is, my best advice is get up early and get in line. When you get to Great Lakes check out the streets and your route to the base. The far right lane ends and everyone will have to merge to the left one lane. So avoid that far right lane and stay one lane over. It will save you some wait time and you will get in quicker. Hopefully this will be a group with 11 or 12 divisions and all the extras will get in quickly and may not have to wait :-)
