My boyfriend John left for boot camp about 3 days ago. It was the hardest thing to do, saying good bye to him. I'll never get the image of him walking away from me and back into his hotel out of my head. I gave him a letter to take with him to read on the plane and he called me one last time when he landed. I could not stop crying! I was prepared for all of the goodbyes and everything I just couldn't help but…

My baby left on Wednesday my first born is now a long way from home and I miss him terribly. I got a two minute call and my son did not sound like himself. He sounded mono-tone and no life in his voice I was ready to get in my car and drive 3 days to go and pick up my baby. How dare you upset my son and I know you are not being nice and caring for him the way I would care for him. But after realizing that he was woken up at 4:30am to go to the airport and wait to board a flight and fly…

It seems like I can't get enough of the Navy. I downloaded all possible apps to my iPad, checked out a few videos and even found Courage, Honor, Commitment: Navy Boot Camp book! The only book we couldn't checkout today was the Naval History in photos. I love to read but also appreciate some good photography.
Tomorrow is our appointment with ENT. I am still trying to figure out what that means other than he is "the recruiter." I am guessing it is a technician of some kind because I…

Today has been this most difficult day of my life....It's such a mixture of emotions! I'm PROUD, Happy that He's happy, and soooo sad for myself! I sent him off yesterday, knowing very well that I've had a year to prepare but NOTHING could prepare me for this overwhelming, inconsolable sadness. I love him more than life it's self and it feels like just yesterday that he…

CONTACTING YOUR RECRUIT
Because of the structured nature of recruit training, your
recruit will not be able to contact you regularly. Here are a
few things that might help ease the anxiety of being out of
contact:
This information is standard and gets sent as part of a very routine package the S.R. sends at about week 2 of their boot camp…

Just got through watching my son get on the van to Amarillo (in Lubbock, TX). From there he will get on a plane tomorrow headed to RTC. I knew this would be tough but ...WOW! I know he is going to a great place and that he has a good future planned out but it is so hard letting go and allowing him to spread his wings and fly solo! If anyone else has kids going into RTC now, it would be great to get to know you as well as anyone else who may have advice. My son should be going to…
