Dearest Navy Moms,
I am grateful for all of the support that everyone has shown during my time of loss and grief. I have been catching up at work so I have not been here to keep up.
I am so glad that your sailors from the USS Boxer are returning home. As you speak with them please let them know that I am proud of them and that I pray that they will obey the safety rules of the ship and move in pairs while they are deployed.
I am honored to know each of you and…

Our Son is graduating Sept. 9. He will be leaving for Pensacola the day following graduation later in the day. Since we have found out we get an extra day with him, I have booked another night @ our hotel. The day of graduation he plans to show us around base, I was wondering what all there is to do as far as attractions, sites to see, or anything interesting for us to do for the day after graduation. Anyone have any ideas for us?…

My son has been in the Navy three years now. He is my oldest son and joined the Navy in 2008. He left for boot camp right after he graduated from high school. I had a very difficult time when he left- I cried a lot. In boot camp you do not hear much from them- your only option is to write letters. They say they can call once in a while, but really they don't. It is a big shock for them too. It is going to be very different than they expected. The best thing you can do is just…

Hi,
I am currently trying to get things around to move to Pensacola FL to be with my boyfriend and i am not having the best of luck. Every apartment complex that seems to be in my price range is either in the "ghetto" or has so many problems that its not even worth it. I have been searching online, as i wont be able to get there to look in person, and i found a quite little apartment complex near both of the bases. It is called Bayou Grande. I was wondering if anyone knew if they were…

I am starting to feel more adjusted to our son being gone. We are so very proud and happy for him. He is doing what he has dreamed of doing for many, many years. Even though we have been preparing for him to leave, it is still an adjustment to get use to in our home.
We are looking forward to seeing him in at graduation, with time to hear how boot camp was and how he himself adjusted to his new life. Was he as prepared as he thought from the D.E.P. program? What advise…

My son shipped on 03 August after being picked up by his DEP Petty Officer to stay overnight in a hotel before swearing in the following morning. I posted this story about my son, his fiancee, his brother and I on my personal blog the following day:
And yet, this feeling too shall pass...
Of all the things I’ve done in my life, being a mother is the most difficult and the most rewarding.
I’ve been a nurse, a maid, a mechanic, a designer, a travel agent, a…
