Feeling very overwhelmed

I just signed up for this and I thought it would be helpful, and on an intellectual level, it has been, but emotionally, I am so overwhelmed by all the things I didn't know.  And more so by the things I know I still have no idea about.

My son leaves on Monday for GL and while I'm so excited, I'm so sad.  I've been reading about "The Box" and all the things that get sent home and smelling his clothes and crying and I think to myself, What has he gotten me…

Fustrated Mom

My son has beed trying to get into the Navy for close to a year now. We have hit a few stumbling blocks, I say we because I have been trying to advocate for him because of the of delay after delay with paperwork and medical issues. My son now was told he has a mild pulmonary disease. the civilian doctors say he is fine. He has to wait for a waiver, if the waiver isn't signed at his MEPS station in Miami, we are told it will have to go the the headquarters in Tenn., I wonder how long this…

Home sick Momma

Today has been a real challenge for me. I think that I am the one that is homesick. Missing my son. I know that he is off to bigger and better things in his life and I am so thankful for that. I just miss my son. He always know the right words to put a smile on my face. Thankful for a better day. I know that I would have days like this......Just to hear him say "Momma or Michelle" would be priceless.

Proud Mother Navy Mom.

My only Son is deployed for 1 year. I miss him so. As does his wife and two sons..

I made a mistake on his rank. I do appologize if that offended anyone. Petty Officer First Class. Thank you for helping me clear that up. So many people have been in the Military in my family so it was a honest mistake.. Every war we have had, someone in my family fought. Spanish American Viet Nam, WW1 and two. our family goes way back in Military History. I wont post names. I kicked myself in the ass for… Continue

Hurry up & wait seems to be the new normal....

Still waiting for the famous form letter to come.. needless to say, I am not a very patient person.  I find myself speeding home just to get to the mailbox to see if it is there.... like if it is it would go away somehow.. silly, I know.

I realize that I am not the first, only or last mother to be in these shoes....still, it doesn't make the waiting any better.

I know that when it finally does come...it will be like Christmas!  Just to know a little something...…

Christmas at bootcamp?

So...I am beginning to accept the decision my son has made...I will miss him terribly when he leaves though...I have a ? for whomever might be able to answer...Logan is supposed to leave Dec 15th...which means Christmas without him...my ? is this...do they allow the recruits to make a phone call on that day...even though they will only have been there 10 days?  It is hard enough to have him leave, and not be here for the holidays, but to not even hear from my baby boy on that day is gonna KILL… Continue

Three More Days

The clock is running out. I'm overwhelmed with emotions about seeing him. My boyfriend graduates from bootcamp this Friday. He has been gone for 7 weeks now. I got very lucky and his graduation is earlier than most. I haven't talked to him since August 30. He told me normally they would allow them to call more, but the division he is in is very disrespectful and "phone calls are a privelege, not a right". I get a letter every week and sometimes twice a week. I keep thinking about how close I…

He passed the NAPT

I got the phone call at 10 am today -he passed and is now on his way to fill out the packet for a change of rate. I am stressed and worried about what happens next. He is excited and so am I but he also struggled his first year of college and to get into the Nuke program...he is in for a world of new things. We discussed one site we visited that explained the Nuke Program as MIT compatible however the Navy does it in 18 months not 4 years! He was excited about the challenge and the new learning… Continue
