Dear N4M,
I have recently had a run in with a few girlfriends who are young and in love and very new to the navy lifestyle and have tons of questions about jumping into the ropes of marriage, and even bigger, the Navy life as a wife. So here is for you Navy Girlfriends, here is my advice, my honesty, my love, my support and my story. Enjoy.
Two years ago, when I first logged onto N4M and created my profile as a proud Navy Girlfriend, I was at a complete loss as to…

I would like to know if there is anyone else out there going through the same issues as I am. My son left 3 weeks ago for Afghanistan. He will be gone for 7 months. I think I cried for weeks before he left and now I cry constantly. He is going to be at a combat outpost in a very volatile area with only a handful of Marines. I am so scared for him and cannot stop worrying. My husband works in the new Walter Reed and is reminded daily what these men and women are sacrificing. I have yet…

Well I dropped my son off last night at the hotel and he will go to MEPS today then fly to Great Lakes. I felt like a piece of me was gone because him and I have always had a close bond. I am afraid that the bond will not be as strong any more. I know that eight weeks go by fast but it doesn't make it easier. I know that I will get his personal belongings back in the mail some time this week. After that I have no idea what to expect. I have heard all types of stories that the recruitor will…

You know that sick feeling you first felt when your sailor walked away from you either to the car to take them to the airport or you actually watched that airplane take off towards chicago. Yeah well its been about two weeks and that feeling is finally starting to wear down. Im no longer constantly trying to keep myself from throwing up with worry for him. I no longer feel like I was left behind to fend for myself. I wasnt left behind by my sailor, by the love of my life. He is doing this…

the night before he left i cuddled in his arm and cried as he explain to me how much he loves me and our little baby girl, who is now 3 months old, and he explained that this was the thing that could really help start our NEW family and this is why he has to leave. He spoke words of hope that when he comes back we will be able to start our new life and get a place for us to call our own. The next day when we went to drop…

Well we made it through Bootcamp, PIR'd on 8/12 - an experience that no loved one should miss. We drove 1340 miles up from Texas. Left on a Tuesday before graduation and didn't receive the "i'm graduating" call till be crossed the Illinois line on Thursday, you could say "We went on a wing and a prayer". He was assigned to the USS Nitze, a DDG, Destroyer in Norfolk & loves it. Now, my Sailor's gone fishing…

So my fiance, Eric, left for basic training on 11/01/11. The first day after he left was honestly the worst day of my life. I could not stop crying, and his mom had to literally pull us off of each other to make him go. Watching him walk down the hall way towards his travel briefing was so traumatic, but at the same time made me so proud to see my baby taking the first step towards his dream of being a US Sailor. It's now day three, and things have gotten a little bit easier. I've stopped…

The tank is clean!!! ......... The tank is clean?!?
Okay, I know I'm lame. After I typed the title "Today's the day!" the line from Finding Nemo popped into my head, so I went with it. :)
Andrew is leaving for downtown with his recruiter as I write this blog. He will spend the night at the hotel and then leave for great lakes tomorrow. We spent our night together last night by having dinner with his parents and siblings. We had a great time. Leaving his house today was so…
