We received a call on Monday. He will be in THU on medical hold for a while though. His leg was healed enough for him to make his run, but not enough to move on to the next phase. The doctors said because he is Spec Ops they wanted him to train some more before he goes on. He has to complete a 5 mile run as soon as he goes to P school. He will be working out 6-8 hours a day until he is back up to speed. We truly are having a wonderful Christmas. Our middle son graduated from West GA with a…

A Sailor’s Christmas
Twas the night before Christmas, he lived in a crowd,
In a 40 man berthing, with shipmates so loud.
I had come down the exhaust stack with presents to give,
And to see just who in this rack did live.
I looked all about, a strange sight did I see,
No tinsel, no presents, not even a tree.
No stockings were hung, just boot close at hand,
On the bulkhead hung pictures of far distance land.
He had medals and badges and…

Well here comes another Christmas without my one and only son. This is the hardest time of the year for me and I really didn't think I would have to go through two in a row. My son is heading down to Pensacola, Florida for airman training on December 20th. I do think of him often and I miss him dearly. I understand that the Navy is his life now and He has to do what they say right now but that doesn't change what is in my heart.
To all the moms out there that don't get to have their…

"What do you want for Christmas?"
Santa Claus asked me
I looked at him and laughed
"What I want isn't cheap."
The big man chortled, "Ho-ho-ho!"
And looked me in the eye,
"Try me." He said with confidence
As I started to cry.
"My Love's arms around me,
Lying next to me at nyte
His hand in my own
Warm, and cuddled up real tight."
Jolly Olde Saint Nicholas clapped me on the back
And said,…

I found this interesting, and since it has to do with Pearl Harbor and since I post trivia on the Cryptology group, I though I'd post it here also....
Welcome to the Navy Trivia section. Every so often I will ask a question about the Navy or a famous sailor. Remember, its not important that you get the answer correct. What is important is that…

Twas The Night Before Christmas - Submarine Style - By Sean Keck:
I copied this from one of the other moms (I Want To Dedicate This To My Son ANTHONY, JR.)
Twas the night before Christmas and what no-one could see,
The men with the dolphins were under the sea.
Most of the crew was flat on their backs,
Snoring and…

My son officially enlisted on 12/8 and leaves for bootcamp on 6/19. I know I have plenty of time but what I have read from other moms is that there is another swear in ceremony prior to when they leave, is it the day before they leave?? The recruiter said it is really 9 weeks before graduation as the first week is immunizations etc. so I am trying to figure out the graduation date. I know that it is long time from now but I like to plan ahead to make travel arrangements etc. I am excited,…

...went out today. It is 3 1/2 weeks until the party and less than 6 weeks until Kaitlin is off to boot camp. We are set on the open house with spaghetti/bread/salad/cheesecake/drinks.
I have asked that everybody bring a picture or letter and will have a "writing station" so they can write something there if they…

My daughter left on December 7th to stay overnight in Pittsburgh before flying to boot camp the following day. I really didn't know we could have went with her and had one last meal together and watch the swearing in....probably better that way. It was really hard cleaning her room after she left. The doorbell rings and I see the Fed Ex man walking down the driveway to his van. I look down on the front porch and there it is....THE BOX!!!!! I know all it is are clothes that he wore but to just wrap my arms around that box and hug it as if it were him....priceless!! On the back of a tag of tube socks was a "love you" scribbled in his handwriting which made me break down....something so simple meant so much to me in that moment. I will cherish that box and it's contents for a long…
