My daughter is a senior in high school and is now officially in the Delayed Entry Program. She went to MEPS this week, in the middle of the ice storm here in southwest/central Ohio! She actually stayed an extra day to take the DLAB test and was very successful! She's been assigned a job as a CTI. I'll learn more tomorrow but it appears she'll leave around August for boot camp. She is still interested in becoming a Rescue Swimmer but I guess that's a pretty tough test and this is an…

Ok now i'm able to sit down and share what my husband wrote:
Friday Dec. 31, 2010
He says that he received all my letters from Dec. 14th-20th and has been reading them and enjoying the card and pictures. He's sorry about the letters jumping around, they've been sooo busy the past 3 weeks.
He really misses us but the letters I sent him give him strength to keep going.
He's…

Last Thursday, Nathan (my son), went up to Columbus, OH to take his ASVABs, Physical, etc. Came home Friday wearing a Navy Ball Cap. When he walked in, he yelled out to me "Mom, I am a Sailor!" Of course, I cried and hugged him. I was so proud (and still am!). He seemed different. He walked a little taller and seemed more sure of himself. Everyone I saw the next couple of days, the first thing I said to them is "my son joined the Navy!!"
On Tuesday, we all had to meet with his…

Since the day my baby girl left for GL my life has been changing in so many ways.
On December 11th our son called us and said "the baby is on the way, meet us at the hospital" So up all night waiting on our first grandson to arrive and hoping he would make his appearance so he could meet his Auntie. He did! She got to meet him before she had to be at the recruiting center.
Then we dropped her off and waited for that call the next night to say I'm here!
I got the call…

Yesterday was the beginning of this huge journey for my daughter. We went in and signed the parental consent form. Now, she will go to MEPS next week. This is such an exciting time for her. I do keep asking her everyday, "are you sure this is what you want to do?" and "have you changed your mind yet?". But I know that her answers will "yes" and "no". Especially since she is passing up a dream of hers to go to the college she has wanted to and planned to go to for 4 years for nursing. And…
