Jordan shipped on August 13th and his letter has graduation on October 5! Cannot wait. That is not really a long time but when you have such little contact it seems like and eternity.

Our son's box arrived by FedEx last Thursday (8/16) and his form letter about graduation came yesterday (Monday, 8/20). We were just so happy to get the letter with the graduation date. Just waiting with a lot of anticipation for a phone call. Any ideas when that might be? Or will it be? I agree with many of you that the box and form letter is very different. I just took my middle son to college Sunday and hubby left today for work out of town for rest of week. I am not doing too…

Yesterday morning I was getting ready to leave for work getting a travel mug for coffee when I twisted the top off and my

I am new here and have been looking at many of the posts and I know I am in the right place for the support I need now and to offer support to the new Navy mom's who will join after me.
I would be lying if I said I was not surprised when she told me that she wanted to go into the military. But she did her research and decided that the navy would offer her the best career.
She enlisted on July 24th and although she was given a ship to boot camp date of February 12, 2013, she…

Boy this weekend was tough. I am not sure why. My daughter graduates on 09-14-2012. We have heard from her. One call and a few letters. She seems to be doing fine. I got some calls from her friends telling me bye as they are leaving for college. I think that is what made me really miss her. Just needed to vent for a minute... thank you all for listening.

The hardest thing I have ever done is walk away from my son, leaving him with his recruiter. I would not wish that heart wrenching experience on my worst enemy! We were lucky in that our son was able to have his cell phone and call us from a hotel he stayed in the first night.
I am waiting for a letter and his address. In the meantime, the box of his stuff arrived home. (How weird is that experience?) I have cleaned and organized his room. It's an odd feeling to have another person…

Hi all,
I'm new to this. My youngest son Dale is currently on the USS Taylor on his way back to Mayport, FL. I am hoping he will be home in NJ in time for for his 21st birthday. My oldest son Ben is currently stationed in Pensacola, FL and awaiting the arrival of his wife Erika and their new baby Rachel. They should be able to come down in the first week of September.

Our son left on 8-14-12 and we got his box on the 17th. I could not believe we got it so fast. And I did not think it was going to be that hard to get :( All the things he left with came back right down to his dirty underwear. He was able to keep his bible. This weekend has been hard and just missing him so bad. I went to a wedding on Saterday and the Moms were crying and I was like they are not going any where try sending one to the military. O well I know he is doing what he wanted to do…

Hello Everyone, My son Kenneth will be graduating from Navy Boot Camp in Illinois on the 24th. His father will be attending it for me, as I cannot get there. He is in my thoughts and prayers everyday, and will always make me proud with any choices he makes. I miss him sooo much and hopefully will be able to visit in San Diego when he is in Sonar School. Thanks for letting me blog my feelings. Deanna

I can't seem to shake this feeling of dread. I have gone all week without a letter from my son who is in bootcamp and I can't help but worry that it's bad....REAL BAD. All of his previous letters were so upbeat and he has wanted this for so long but I'm getting information from other mom's in his division that their son's are saying they aren't doing good and they may hold back the entire division 2 weeks before PIR. I know that if I haven't received a phone call telling me there is a…

I was also looking for a nice place for dinner... any suggestions from the seasoned moms?? My SR graduates 9/14. Never wanted to rush my children's lives but these next 4 weeks need to pass quickly. We begin a week at the Jersey shore on 8/25 and then the whilwind begins of school starting. A week and a half later we leave for Chicago... I was lucky that I did get to talk to him and the letters keep coming but we can't wait to see him!!!! As I know you all can appreciate...

Today is day 2 that Brandon left for basic training. It is really a hard adjustment at home. We were blessed that my father in law is a comissioned retired Naval Capt. and got to do his swearing in. That was bittersweet, I lost my father 4 weeks ago.... hard sad times. I cannot wait for my hugs in OCT. for now, just a sad mom!!!

I thought i read somewhere that as much as you want to give your Sailor a gift they cannot take back with them, can anyone who has "been there, done that", confirm that and at what point can they take a gift that you bought for them...any input would be great! THANKS!

Hi
I am going to my son's graduation next Friday. He called today saying that he passed his final exam. I could not stop smiling at the phone!
I am so happy, proud and excited to see him in his uniform. I am not familiar with the area and I wish to have lunch in a nice restaurant close by, not too expensive but cozy and relaxed. I would really appreciate some suggestions.
Thank you
Maros
