Any "Seasoned" moms know how the graduation seating works?  How will I know where to sit to be at least near my son's division??  Are there signs or something to show us where they will be?  Thanks!

Anxiously Awaiting

I am a mom very new and unfamiliar with this process. I feel so lost and unfamiliar with all of the navy terms and process. My son left last Thursday and I am anxiously awaiting "the box". I keep thinking "today is the day" but as of yet, the day has not come. I keep thinking, if I just had an address and could write I would feel so much better. I read the posts and find comfort in the fact that I am not the only mother shedding tears. Thank you for all of the posts and words of wisdom. Godsped… Continue

Counting Down

Just posted the party for my son on Facebook.  Nothing fancy just friends and family over to have pizza and munchies.

Besides the party he's getting his leopard gecko ready for his new home with my niece and packing his stuff away.  Yes we're turning his bedroom into a playroom for his little brother.  The bed and dresser will remain though for visits home.  I'll bet the weeks are going to fly by between now and 3/29.

The husband, the dog, and finally feeling like home...

Hello N4M,

As for my last blog, I suppose it was a bit on the pessimist side.

Today, I am happy to say that things are finally falling into place here.  Being a military wife has finally become my new normal. And living here has finally become home.

Molly, my puppy, is doing much better. She is pretty much trained. With a lot of patiences, and a few sleepless nights I have finally been able house break her. Anyways, this is not about my…

My Loving Husband

Every day I thank God for the man I met, fell in love with, married, and became a family with. We have our struggles, as does every couple, but I would not change this for the world. I long for him when he is not around and he drives me crazy when he is. But I still love him, and always will. He took on my son as his own and together we will have a baby! Our family is not complete, but every growing. He's only gone for 2 weeks this time, but I still miss him! I've made my vows to him, that I… Continue

A Picture's Worth a Thousand Words

I love when my Popeye draws me pretty pictures in his letters. The first was a lovely likeness of his mouth and teeth, pointing out exactly where his wisdom teeth were, and where they now are not. It looked a little frankenstein-y, but it showed he hasn't lost his quirkiness.

The most recent and most elaborate, was a rose. Rather, his…

Today I miss my Sailor...

Today I miss my Sailor, my tears I try to hide

If only I could hold him, have him at my side

But I’m a Navy mom, and strong I have to be

Weather he be home, ashore or out to sea

I pray my job was done well, and he knows in his heart

I’m proud that he’s my son, and that I’ll do my part

Today my mind is filled, with thoughts of all our fleet

So proudly as they serve, and my heart skips a beat

He grows each day I know, into a greater man

I’m entrusting… Continue

Received "the box"

You know, I thought I had read enough blogs and comments to prepare myself for the delivery of the box.  To all the moms still waiting, you seriously can't prepare yourself.  I really thought I'd be fine, knowing that the box was coming in advance, preparing myself for its delivery. Reminding myself that my son made this decision and is so happy and excited to get started. NOTHING can prepare you, until you receive it yourself.  I heard the doorbell ring and went to the door -- I really thought… Continue

ONE WEEK

One week ago today, I woke with tears in my eyes KNOWING I would be taking my first born child, my son, the love of my life, to meet his recruiter to take him to NEW ORLEANS to go to boot camp on the 21st. I cried all day long that day. TODAY is a new day. I am so thankful for this site and for God giving me peace knowing this is all part of His plan for my son. He knew the plans He made for him even before he was born and in that I find comfort and peace. I taught my son right from wrong, took… Continue

Waiting for the call home

When he called from the airport the first time he left he said I can call again in about three weeks.  Its been 12days and I am still counting the days till I can hear from him again.....Sent so many letters and cards already and still I need to hear from him or at least get a little letter.  The waiting is nerve wracking for sure.

I miss him.

Generally speaking, I am an effective communicator. Typically I'm able to grasp my thoughts (as far fetched as they may be at times) and form a cohesive thought. It seems like since he's been gone, that has become exceedingly difficult. It's really sad. I know that time I have available to talk to him is limited and therefore I should be able to pull myself and my thoughts together well enough to come up with something to talk about, but I seem to draw a blank almost every single time. It's… Continue
