leaving for bootcamp July 10

I was just wondering if there was anyone else who had a sailor leaving for bootcamp on July 10th to Great Lakes? Does anyone know if there is a group for this date or are the groups based on when the letter comes after BC has started.

7 weeks done - 1 to go, a letter to Erin

Erin,

It is now 11pm on Tuesday July 3rd, 2012. You arrived at Bootcamp 7 full weeks ago. Tomorrow you start your eighth and final week of training. This is when you show what kind of student you have been. All you have left are final tests. A measure of your growth, a measure of accomplishments. You love learning. And you do very well on tests. But now you have learned to be tested in different ways. These ways are new to you.. but you are doing it! You are rising to the…

SHIP 11, Division 231, PIR 8/3/12

Just wondering if there are anyone mom's out there that have a son/daughter in this division. My son will be graduating on 8/3/12. One month left. I don't know where the best places to get a motel up there or anything. My son told me he has liberty that weekend, so i am happy for that. Just need some information on what will work out the best for our trip out there and stay.

Well made it through until almost the end! Soon to be the Mom of a Sailor officially! :) Ship 11 Div 214

I am happy to say that I made it through the first week and am now less than a week and half away from Graduation. It has seemed to be a real roller coaster ride. I have aged; there is no doubt about that. The grey is showing through and I don’t think I have had a good night’s sleep since my SR left. I am so proud of her I am beyond the “Cloud 9” affect.

I never thought I would make it this whole time. I do stay off most of the sites for nothing more than it depresses me to see anyone…

Here we go...

My son's plane to Great Lakes left about an hour ago. His journey begins. He has wanted this ever since he was 11 yrs old and first started in the sea cadets and went crazy for anything navy. I didn't go to the recruiter's office yesterday before he went to meps and didn't go to the airport today as I didn't want to embarass him by grabbing him around the ankles and begging him not to go so I said my good byes to my youngest child yesterday then cried for 2 hours. Have not actually cried…

He left today

My son offically left for boot camp today. There was a small chance that he would not get to ship out today due to some paperwork problems, but apparently that was cleared up and now is plane is due to land at O'Hare in about an hour.

I can honestly say that today has been one of the very hardest days of my life with the exception of the day my Mom died. I have tried to stay strong for our 6 yr old daughter, but even at that, I have had my times of breaking down.

When I do not…

My Amazing Call Today

I live in IN and if anyone knows we had a horrible storm come through and it knocked out a lot of people's power. It was hard keeping my phone charged during that time but I managed by staying with my G-pa who had a generator. I patiently waited for my call to come through and I was happy to hear from my sailor in boot camp. He sounded so good and we talked and talked pretty much like we were catching up. Apparently from his last letter he was talking about moving the date up (I thought he…

Time is getting short

We had Emma's going away party this weekend. Saw alot of the kids she has been friends with for along time. I could not help but admire the choices most had made. Some military - some college - some being bums.... She leaves two weeks from today. I am happy for her. This has been quite the process. She signed up in October. She thought this time would never come. Boy did time fly. I am excited for her adventure and if truth be told... might be a little excited for mine too. I have been a…

Day 10 and still getting weepyTT

Today is the 10th day since Tom went to BC. I went to write my nightly letter to him and found myself crying. Tom has always been my buffer and support when I had a bad day with his older sister (who is bi-polar, 21 and still lives at home since she can't find work) and today was really bad with her.

The started so good with me talking to Tom's girlfriend and working out a few beginning travel plans as she and I will be the only ones who can make it to his graduation. Then his sister…

Waiting is hard

Even though this is my second son to join for some reason the waiting to hear from my son is harder. My youngest son joined last year so I know the routine and all but still impatient to hear how Michael is.doing.

SR Leaves Tomorrow Morning

My SR will be on a bus tomorrow morning. He won't be at BC until Tuesday. His first full day at BC will be the 4th of July!

We're very excited and very proud!

I had to say my good-byes to him on Thursday. He lives 3 hours away from me. But he knows he has my full support!

He was given a going-away-party on Saturday, today (Sunday) they prayed for him at church.

He's getting his things organized today.

Come morning, he'll be…

Drop off day

Today is the day that we take him to his recruiter so that he can go to the hotel and then to MEPS tomorrow.

I have cried like so much my eyes are swollen and I know that this is only the beginning. His leaving has also hit our 6 year old daughter hard today.

I've tried to point out all of the positives to her, but she knows that her bubba is leaving and she will not get to see or talk to him for a long time ( in her world). It is hard for me to disagree with that.

We…

Many Questions for PIR date 7-6-12

I am a SR girlfriend. I have been with him for two years now and I'm so proud of his choice. but I also can't help to be bitter about it sometimes. I know this is the best for his future, but I miss him so much. I am going to the graduation on the 6th of July. I am going with his parents and we are so excited to see him. We do have a few questions in hopes for answers. I have been all over this website trying to find answers, so I hope I can get a few from here. I have no idea what we need…

Young Marriage Question

Hi, I would appreciate any input or advice.  My daughter is 20 years old and is finishing up her AA degree.  We are a very close knit family and she has never been anywhere away from home for any length of time.  She dated her boyfriend in high school since she was 15 and he was 16 and they recently got engaged and want to get married in December.  Her now fiance  finished his schooling is stationed for 2 years at a location where he is doing his job.  He is located about 7 hours from where…
