Honnalora, loved your story...I can imagine you acting like Rocky on trails...and look forward to your uplifting posts. The reference to Paul and Silas being in prison is right on. I know that our SR's are not in anything like prison but they all need to rely on our Lord for strength. I pray that they are looking to Lord and giving Him the glory for their victories both personal and with their respective divisions. Thanks for making this easier and reminding us who to look to.
Have a blessed night and keep counting those days:)

There will be NO six flags in our weekend. My recruit doesn't find anything amusing about amusement parks and isn't a fan of big crowds either. His plans for the weekend are - shower, nap, Gold's Gym, eat Mom's cooking, talk on phone and facebook, rinse and repeat multiple times!

Maribeth~ I'm not making any plans for my SR either. I am going to leave liberty time up to my son. PIR weekend is all about him, whatever he wants to do, I'm good with! He's been away since July 13th, and if he just wants to just hang out in the hotel rm, I'm fine with that. If he wants to go sightseeing, I'm fine with that too! I am playing everything by ear,

Thanks for the kind comments gals! I so appreciate the freedom of this group, that allows each of us to share our hearts.

NavyWife - I believe God was blessing you with a great moment! I am so thankful that you followed the leading of the Lord, and look how He blessed you for your obedience. He called, you answered and it sounds like an entire service of people were affected! Thank you.

Honnalora - thank you for that inspirational message, I am so glad you are a part of this group!

I am really glad that the Meet and Greet is the day before PIR, so that we get a chance to connect with each other before we are in the mix of our reunions. I am sure that each of us will be spending the weekend in a slightly different way than everyone else. There will be so much for us to share when we get back home. I, for one, would love to hear what each of you did with your SR - except no details from you wives!!!! I think it will be a great closure for our group. We should probably have a separate Discussion Forum just for that.

It was a beautiful day here in MN, sunny and crisp. Made for a fantastic weekend! I hope the weather is like this in GL for PIR.

My blue candle has been burning all day today in honor of the difficult week ahead for our SR's. I will be saying extra prayers for them.

Can I boast on the goodness of God for a second? Ok - thanks!

Yesterday, I went running at a local park with my husband. I could hear cheering and realized the college next to the park was playing a football game. I felt led to go see the players on the field but was a little resistant. The reason, my recruit passed up a lot of college football scholarships and was a top recruit as several schools - to join the Navy. I have stayed away from anything football ( I love it and was looking forward to cheering for him at college games). I walked down the hill to watch for a second - and was relieved. I was comforted by the fact that college football was night the right path for him, and that I was thankful I trusted my son to make the right decision for his life.

I went on to run, for about 45 minutes of really tough trails. I was ready to stop and was worn out. Through the woods came the sound of that college band playing the theme song to "Rocky". I threw up my arms in victory, and pressed on to continue running (who could resist?). When that was over, they started another song and I could hear singing and cheering. In my tired and probably delirious state, I laughed and thought - all that for little ole me? I knew it was for the game - I'm not THAT self centered or nuts. But in that moment, I felt like God had caused that moment to happen to encourage me and push me past my comfort zone.

Much like our loved ones are being pushed past their comfort zones. If God can do that for me, you know he can do it for them. I continued to run, each step praying for all of our recruits. I prayed that God would do the same for them, and in the midst of it all give them each a moment that they knew, undeniably, that God had arranged just to encourage them. I prayed that God let them know how much they are loved and to give them each a reason to smile, in the midst of it all!

In the book of Acts - Paul and Silas were in prison. At the midnight hour, they began praising God. God showed up and set them free, not just them, but everyone else that was there with them. In the most difficult moment, the darkest hour...I pray our recruits praise God because I know if they do, He will show up. He will bring encouragement and strength, not just for them, but everyone around them.

Thanks for letting me ramble! Blessings.
