My son doesn't talk much either. I was shocked that he talked to me for so long yesterday. I think that's the longest phone conversation I've ever had with him! I love when other people post details about what their SR said because it's like you said we can fill in the blanks. Plus, as soon as I heard his voice most of my questions flew out of my head. Luckily the call was so long I remembered most of them. Then I spent 3x as long on the phone with my mom, MIL, and husband recounting the details of the conversation. Of course hubby said I should have hung up and let him call dad but I said no, as mom I have first dibs.

Melanie, 15 going to Pensacola, or 15 AD's? B said that their division started with 76 and he thinks it's down to 70 now.

Jessica, I love that analogy! I'm glad that the time goes so fast for them that way they don't feel like they are trapped there forever. B did say he hopes he's grad n go though because he doesn't want to spend any extra time at RTC.

I forgot to add that my son said there are 4 other AD's in his DIV 339 who will be going to Pensacola, FL for A school. Are any of their moms on here?

Yes, I got a call yesterday!!! After having my phone glued to my side for the entire week I accidentally left it at home when I went to the gym just before lunch time. Our gym is quite far from our house so I went ahead and did a shorter (power) version of my workout and then ran out without even swimming or showering like I normally do. I dropped a couple of letters off at the post office because I forgot to mail the one from yesterday and then rushed home to get my phone. Then, since I hadn't really worked out I asked my dad if he wanted to go walk at the dog park. We were almost there when my phone rang and I saw the long awaited 847 number. My phone has something wrong with it and randomly acts like a button is being pushed and answered the call. I was so afraid that I had pushed something to hang up on him!

When I answered he was really casual, like "Hi mom." As if we just talked yesterday! According to him it feels like he's only been there a few days, while to me it feels like he's been gone a few months. I asked if he had gotten my letters and he said yes, but he hasn't gotten time to read them all yet. Here I was freaking out that he wouldn't have mail for a day because I forgot yesterday and he hasn't even read all of the one's I've sent and he hasn't sent me another one since the 8/29 letter. He told me to tell Grandpa (my dad) to keep sending letters with his crazy stories because "those are really entertaining." He also said that his brother should send a letter now and then too. They are a year apart and are really like twins. I can tell they miss each other. I couldn't believe it but we got to talk for 45 minutes!!! That will definitely get me through the next couple of weeks until the next call.

Now here's the stuff that pertains to Div 339 or boot camp in general: He said that the division is pretty tight and he thinks they are working together pretty well (my son is pretty laid back about this stuff so opinions may vary). He was saying that they get in trouble and get IT for everything. Someone left the water in the bathroom sink on and the division got in trouble. I guess it's not as bad when it's the entire division because they go easier on the group. I don't know if their inspections are graded individually, or as a group, but he said he's gotten 5.0 out of 5.0 on all three of his inspections. Also, yes #339 is a push division. Next week they start their firefighting training. They all miss hearing music and apparently love to sing "Anchors away" and the Cadences. He isn't too worried about Battle Stations since that isn't until next month. BC is getting easier the longer he is there and the days are long, but the weeks go super fast. I guess a bunch of the guys got their wisdom teeth taken out and got 2 days medical, but my son didn't. The only free time is about 1/2 hour before taps, at about 9:00 (he said he polishes his boots or irons his uniforms to relax) or on Sunday when the guys sit around and talk. They tried to get an academic flag but the average score was too low. The swimming test was supposedly really easy and the guys who don't pass can ask to try again the next day before having to go to swimming training (my son has been swimming laps for 2 years so again this may be a little different for others). PT isn't that bad, but IT is sometimes hard. Their RDC's aren't too bad and they are really hard working. I think that's about all that pertains to the division, except for anyone who didn't know they only get space for 4 family members to come to PIR.

hey all! U. S. Navy Recruit Training Command face book page, someone asked if our PIR group will have Monday after PIR as an additional day of liberty due to the holiday. They have responded that they will have an answer for us this Monday. I will keep a look out for that info and pass it along here. Let's pray that they do! We could all really use a 4 day liberty with our loved ones as a reward!

Camelot- Mine told that me that fire training and gas chamber is week 3 which should be the week that they are now concluding. Then Hell Week begins, week 4!

Cameolot- He described it to like this- the second of their 3 physical tests, gun range training, and two (2) inspections. Busiest week of Boot Camp and very stressful, but can look forward to it being much easier from that point forward. He say's he is really looking forward to BS, the RDC's tell them it's extremely strenuous but is also alot of fun! On a funny note- He is a Florida Boy Inside and Out, and he says its already getting cold there, hates it and want his sunshine and beaches back!

I got a big batch of letters from my husband today!!!! I am so happy! 10 pages ranging from 8/31 - 9/5. He sounds like he is doing well, has been doing a lot of watches. He loves getting my letters and letters from our families. He was SIQ for awhile :( but seems to be better now! One part that made me laugh, he goes "I think it's funny that you know more about my PIR and battlestations than I do by the way" haha thank you N4M!!
Getting all these letters made me feel so much better since I didn't get a call last night. What a great thing to come home to after a long day at work!!

HEADS UP DIVISION 333. Received letters today indicating that they may have another phone call on Saturday (11th) that is if they don't lose it before they get to use it! :) Also, he also said that "Hell Week" begins for them next week, so I plan on doubling up on my cards and letters to keep him going. Thinking of you all, God Bless!

Oh - another idea.. for those of us who are um...cautious...paranoid maybe? :-) Let's all make sure we have either A) something to write down names, #s and address (I had a B, but it really didn't make sense @#$%??) in for the M&G!!! Cuz you KNOW this bunch will keep in touch! I almost forgot - 99% of the population is more advanced than I, and are used to having little electronics to store such info in. What was I thinking? Ha Ha - I just got a cell phone (not a track phone, a real live cell phone) yesterday! ( So SR can call me Anytime, Anywhere!!!!) Hope y'all have a great big laugh on me! Seriously, it's ok, I'm chuckling as I type! :-) Have a great weekend gals! TT you Monday if not B4!
