navygf - cheer are you kidding - you will need ear plugs at the beginning of the PIR --- I lost my voice..... yes it is acceptable.... my son was a stick (flag carrier) when 818 div was introduced and marched in - the auditorium rocked..... each div parents competed to see who could be the loudest! Oh yes - rock on gf and holler till you lose your voice.... right after everyone stopped the holler.... I said hoooyaaaaa McCracken - he heard me and tried not to smile - I did see a smirkie smile tho and afterward he said he loved it

Ship 10mom - shuttle is great but we had soooo many grads that the shuttles were really late.... Traffic was just amazing! We took the rental car and glad we did! Left the hotel at 6:15 - sat in PIR traffice till about 7:00 - got through the gate and parked....waited in line at the check in center with our IDs and finally got into the auditorium at about 7:40 - got great seats.... (its quite a way from check in center to the auditorium too) Im not dissing on the shuttles - just giving you an idea ..... the shuttle parents were really way behind us.... parking was short and sweet for us that drove.

Navymom - I need help w/ that committing to memory thing! I'm horrible w/ names!! Think it'll be ok if we all call each other by our screen-names so we don't have remember new ones? LOL!! Can you picture it? Funny!

It's fine - thanks for the info Lydia! I'm hoping to get some down time w/ our Sailor, but there will be other family there too, not sure where they're staying... so we'll see how it goes. We're staying @ LaQuinta - 255 for 4 nites, continental b-fast and shuttle. No kitchen, but hubby fitures we'd end up eating out once a day anyhow. I'm going to bring some fried chicken from home tho - cuz we can keep it cold, eat it cold - and it's his favorite! :-) Oh - and maybe a bag of choc. chips - he always snuck those out of the freezer too! :-) No intrusion - thanks again for the helpful advice & anecdotes! Sounds like you had a nice time!

Ship 10mom - Ramada was smelly but we stayed there cause I helped with decor of MnG.... I DONT recommend it tho... staff were very nice.... Oh and digestive system...hahaha my son ate an entire bag full of candy and then he wanted Chinese food! Then a steak.... It was allll good! My t was custom made for 20 bux but with puff paint you could do your own.... After PIR we went to chinese and then he said he just wanted to go to the hotel and chill with us.... changed into his civis that we brought and folded each article of his uniform and safely place it aside.... we talked for hours until time to go back to RTC - shopped at NEX and then said good night..... just fyi --- I dont mean to intrude on yall site - just thought I might be able to help or give suggestions

Very cool. I haven't gotten another letter yet to get any requests, but hoping maybe today? fingers crossed! Mine has a sweet tooth too - so we'll see! Gosh, after 8 weeks, I wonder what thier digestive system will tolerate well? Poor guys :-)

Just looked @ the discussion for hotels - one person was thinking of custom t-shirt w/ ship, div, screen name - I thought that was a pretty good idea! Could be made @ home for very little - and keep-able too! (I know, not the best grammar on here, going too fast) oh well. Then again, even if we are there all weekend, our new Sailors might just want to veg - so the longevity of the item might not be a biggie, or the could want to walk all over town as a new Sailor - so we should certainly show them off! Ugh - just don't know... :-) I think I can feel the excitement starting to build w/ everyone!

Ship 10 mom - It was fun identifying each other at the Div tables and with the name tags.... Also - I had a t-shirt made up - Navy blue with the Navy emblem on the left and his name and ship and div on the right --- WOOOW did I get a lot of compliments on it.... several of us moms did and we enjoyed wearing them... we have a local shop here that does engraving and embroiderey...that is where I had it done...

Yes, the avatar is the little picture - I just learned that so I'm trying to commit the term to memory :)

The food requests were really cute - Mt Dew, cherry coffee cake, wild rice soup, Hersey cookies and cream candy bar, Little Debbie brownies with mini- M&M, and theater popcorn. And he would like to see a movie.
