Honnalora, it is funny you have the calendar idea. I sent mine to my daughter last week, Sept and Oct. calendars. I wrote on my calendars for her to mark the days off until graduation like she and her sister used to do when they couldn't wait for school to be out for the summer. I marked the day we arrive, her graduation date and the day we leave. How awesome, some of us think alike.

honnalori you are right I think we do know a little more than our SRs. I asked my son about BS21 he said they werent aloud to talk about it, but I told him I saw a video on it. how the dummies moan and groan. he didnt know that but he said they cant wait for it.
also he is one of 7 in his division that go to church, he took the advice of my older son who is a seabee. he told him it helps to get away from everything even for a short time and be around others not in their division. he told me when he got back from mass last sunday his division was on the floor doing push ups,

vicki I was reading what you did with your dog. its not easy to get them to cooperate. we have 3 dogs. so for fun we put signs around them saying We Miss You K. and I took a picture to mail to my son. I used cheese to get them to stay still. (not easy) hopefully it got a smile

tomorrow-our little countdown clock is going to start with a 2! Can you believe it. We will be at 29 days and counting down! So excited.

Here is an idea for ya! My son loves to mark off the days on the calendar. Does it for everything. I have printed out a September/October calendar to send to him. I put a huge X across the days that have already passed. On all the rest of the days, I typed in little messages etc, also marked important days such as Captains Cup and PIR. Marked when Mom and Dad arrive at the hotel, etc. Messages include "mom and dad pray for me daily, I am a leader and an encourager, I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me, and my cat is at home crying and getting fat - pray that mom isn't!

I know he is gonna love it! Hopefully it will feel like getting messages, notes, and encouragement from home daily!

JessicaB, now I'm confused because my friends son graduated in GL back in Dec. He was going to Texas for his A School but he didn't have to report back on Friday nor Saturday back to GL. He went back on Sunday afternoon?

Honnalora..That is great to hear about church. My SR really wanted to be Chaplin's Assistant during bootcamp. Haven't heard if he got to do that. I feel much better knowing he has a good service to attend. They need that desperately right now.

I'm sorry to confuse...I live confused.. I do mean PIR weekend. So I would probably get to spend the whole day with him....right? Probably would be best ot go on and plan to fly out Monday...Take another vacation day...WOOOHOOO I can't think of a better reason in the whole world. Really looking forward to that weekend and I'm sure we all are:)

heleng, from what I understand, unless the SR is grad and go, they usually get liberty Saturday daytime and sunday daytime; but I think it varies according to their RDCs. We're heading out Monday morning, lucky for me it's a holiday. :-) But no one really knows for sure until that PIR week.

Ship 10 Div 338 got calls yesterday...and yay finally a letter to me...Does anyone know if the SR's will get day liberty on Sunday? I am trying to make travel arrangements and wonder whether to fly out Sunday or Monday..Does anyone have any idea?
