For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Comment by PKMom on September 6, 2010 at 11:24am: My college daughter was home this weekend and is inundated already with projects - she's an art major (graphic design) but she was so overwhelmed by having things DUE by tomorrow already, spending hours at a time; I told hubby that we'll have to send HER some letters of support as well as her brother in boot camp! Being a mom never ends!!! LOL

Comment by PKMom on September 6, 2010 at 11:22am: Arianna, hoping you get your call this week. Did you check with your division # discussion above to see if anyone in the division got a call yet? Some divisions haven't yet, from what I read. My son is 822 and they got to call on Thursday.

My 2 year old son and I miss him so much. I pray that soon we will receive a phone call!! We got some letters so that was really nice. Now if only I can get that call :-/

jamielyn, good for you staying so optimistic, you are absolutely right about 'each day gone is one day closer!' It's got to be tougher on wives than on moms (saying that as a mom!). Hope you get your phone call this week! My son left 4 weeks ago, and we got a call on Thursday.

Okay - time to get serious about our own fitness boot camps, diets etc. So many of us make a commitment to making some changes for the better while our recruits were making sacrifices and big changes in their lives. How about a discussion page to help keep each other on track and encouraged?

Comment by Crystal-ship06-PIR9/2/10-DIV942 on September 5, 2010 at 10:57pm: Hi everyone...I just returned from Great Lakes yesterday...my son grad on 9/2...it was the most AMAZING and memorable experience...I know I won't be physically sharing in your joy on 10/8...but I wanted to say, you're new Navy family is amazing...if you have a Meet and Greet planned, def try to go...the support you receive is the best ever...everyone is there for the same reason, to support a sailor ...no negativity...just friendly hugs encouraging words...once you get your "Im a sailor call", you might be able to get some sleep! I know last week was the hardest for me, but sooo worth it in the end...just wanted to wish everyone luck, and God Bless your sailors!
