Vicki- That's great to hear. What a sweet thing he did. I cant wait to get another letter and wish so much that they had not lost their phone call today. I'm glad that they will have two days of some rest with the holiday, I'm sure its more than needed!

YIPPEEEE!!! I got my letters! He sent back my questionnaire and wrote one letter over the period of two day (8/30 and 8/31). He said he had received my letters through 8/27. He sounds good, even put smiley faces in the letter. He is eating oatmeal three meals a day - he has never eaten oatmeal. Sounds like he is eating A LOT :) Hope he is drinking plenty of water with all of that fiber ;) I was so excited and feel so much better. I had a dream last night that he showed up on my doorstep in the middle of the night because he had failed some test. I must have been more worried than I thought. He said the RDC's are letting up a little, so it has gotten better.

I also got my blue candle in the mail today! My SR didn't know when BS21 was yet, but I am ready!!

Wow Jana B - you go girlfriend!

Hope everyone else is having a great day. Keep writing those letters, and if you haven't received any yet, your day will come soon.

A menopausal mom--to boot? Lol!
Comment by Jana B on September 4, 2010 at 5:06pm
I will--thanks!

I had one of those moments just a bit ago.Except my call was from the NRA. Do they actually think it would be safe to but a gun in the hands of a mom or wife who is waiting on the mailman for a letter from their SR? Hmmm..don't think so!

No Letter for me today :( I'm doing OK tho--my boy knows I love him and I know he will do the best he can--and that he loves me too! I'm hoping for that phone call tho.

NavyWife621--At my age, playing safe is for sissies! LOL!! Us older women have nothing to lose--we lost it all already! Sometimes you just gotta dance, my SR hates it when he startes groovin--and I start in too. He says "Mom--NO--Stop--your embarassing me!" Oh well--life is just too short, and the older we get, the more we appreciate it. He was my late-in-life child--menopause is great now (Yeah right)!

Hey KrisM, my husband is in div 822 and he called last Thursday (9/2) at 3 pm CT. We were able to talk for about 40 min. He said it would be another 2 weeks before he could call again, but he wasn't sure and it seems they never really know. He said the whole division was getting calls but I've heard people say some guys have "watch duty" or something during it and can't call at that time. I really have no idea what that is and/or if anyone had that duty at that time!

Thought I would stop by for a minute. My son's PIR is 9/17. Just wanted to let you know phone calls are rare. we have had 1 the entire time. His fiance has had about 3. Don't be dissappointed if you are not getting phone calls. Also, letters do not come on regular basis, sometimes I would get 3 a week and there has been a time recently that most moms went 2 weeks without any news. I would suggest joining a PIR group that is close to end so you can get ideas of what will be going on. Our group also has lots of info on motels, taxi's, ect. Hope this helps.

Hey sjerseytina, I just fr you! Did I read you got a phone call? My son is going into pre/buds also from this class. I get a letter every Thursday they have been funny and upbeat he's doing well it seems! But I did not get a phone call :( if he called his girlfriend instead of home I'll kick his butt! :)
Comment by sjtina on September 4, 2010 at 12:57pm
my son said the same thing. keep sending letters no matter what it is. they get mail regularly. they call your name and throw the mail at you. he said they pick it up and jump into thier rack to read it. everyone else is bummed. I read earliewr that they cheered for one guy who finally got his first letter.

That's so great!!! YEAH!! My time is coming--I can feel it!
I'm so happy for all of you that have recieved letters and phone calls!
I'm actually supposed to have a date tomorrow afternoon (yes..me--can you believe it?) to go up in to the mountains, but if my SR doesn't call first--I'm not goin! I'm not gonna miss his first phone call home. The mountains are still gonna be there next weekend--if the guy isn't , I'll find another--lol!
