Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!
Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!
Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Thanks for the info JessicaB. Hope you don't mind me throwing out one more question. If additional people come to the base to see if there is extra room for PIR, and there isn't room, is there a monitor or something so they can see the ceremony, or do they just wait in a room somewhere, or have to leave the base altogether?

No letter for me today either. BUT, it is Friday, and we get a long weekend, so I am going to focus on the positive. Does anyone know what a holiday means for the SR's? Do they get any break or is it just another normal day for them?

That's what I keep telling myself! I got a letter from a friend in Reno today that was mailed on the first--so let's hope these letters get to us quickly!
I finally got all the paperwork/receipts turned into my insurance--from when his box was stolen off my front porch--I'm sure not looking forward to telling him about that after PIR!

No letter here today either--I keep telling myself no news is good news. Sometimes it's a bit hard to believe tho. Tomorrow is another day!

NavyWife, I know it's not easy having them around but I assure you it will get better! This is actually the end of week 3 and I feel much better than the 1st week he was gone, Give your dog a couple of hours to recup from the frightening experience he had!
Navygf, Don't give up, you still have tomorrow to receive letters and perhaps even a phone call too! What State do you live?
