A Great Day! Finally got a letter - actually two- Justin sent what he called a generic letter for family and another for my husband and me. Here's the generic one: Dear Friends and Family For now I will be writing a generic letter for everyone to read. When I reach my holiday routine I will start to have more time to write personal letters. First of all I'm doing great. Things are not as difficult as I though they would be. Three square meals every day. I will most likely be in much better shape by the end of September. Graduation is still set for the 8th of Oct. the only real constantly occurring issues are the massive accumulation of dust bunnies (which are rapidly evolving into dust badgers). Our compartments are expected to be immaculate at all time, or our RDC's like to use what they call "refocusing of attention" or better known to recruits as "IT" or intensive training. Try waking up at 0500 to a couple of petty officers yelling like crazy, then thanks to one recruit for not folding his blanket just right the 77 other recruits in our division have to pay with 8 counts, sit-ups and leg lifts@ Its not so bad though. I have some pretty funny RDC's, they can be pretty mean sometimes but most of the time they're trying to help us out with marching and "refocusing our attention". We're already designing our division flag and I have to say it's pretty damn cool. But you'll have to wait until graduation day to see it. Our uniforms or "NWUS" are freakin awesome@ The days seem to be going by faster than I would have imagined. Navy chow is pretty good, and I've already made some really good friends in Division 336 but most of them act like damn children and don't realize the magnitude of what we are becoming a part of, as one of my Recruit Division Commander would most likely say "this isn't the flippin boy scout summer camp!" - but nothing a little IT can't adjust.

Today was interesting enough for the whole week. Woke us at zero-t00 for early chow and 65 of 76 recruits marched our happy asses over to dental where I waited nearly 7 hours to have two of my wisdom teeth busted up and pulled out. They put me on pain meds and most of our division is considered SIQ (sick in quarters) for two days and light duty for one day which sucks because we have our first competitive PT event tomorrow and now I have to wait till the next one, but that's okay. I've already passed my PFA with 75 sit ups and 69 pushups, then my mile and a 1/2 in 10 min 23 sec. Not bad! I've taken on the division leadership position of yeoman which allows me to wear a collar device of a Petty Officer First Class. The job is a pain (lots of paper work, sick slips, check out sheets, hard cards with all the information of each recruit and every date they've taken a swim qual or shot or medical appt. Overall it's pretty rewarding here at RTC. I'm thinking about my family and friends every day. I miss all of you and will see you at graduation soon enough.

At least he hasn't lost his sense of humor. Now the wait for the phone call!!! He left here on the 12th and this is the first letter we received so if you haven't received a letter - hang in there.

Good Evening ladies,
I got 3 letters today and 1 for our daughter! No calls yet but it's ok....I hope he calls me during the weekend....All I can say is that I just got home(so excuse me that I haven't been able to read all the posts), saw all these envelopes am reading them and THANKING GOD for his grace and mercy on ALL of the SR.....It's such a great feeling. He said most of his Div are very young(of course) and keep getting in trouble...They got extra PT as punishment but he as well as the older ones are trying to help the others bring them together in unity. They think being in the Navy is a "joke" and are misbehaving....Overall, he's learning alot and is happy he joined. For those who haven't gotten mail, don't give up, you will either receive it tomorrow or Saturday..All I can say is that I'm SO BLESSED to be part of the PIR 10/08/10.... :)

To the moms who don't have letter or phone calls. Just a day ago I was there, so don't give up the faith. When it comes, it is worth the wait and you will be paralyzed for hours afterward.

Got letters and a call from my husband today! Showed up as "Unknown" on my phone and after I heard his voice both us were silent for like 20 seconds because we were both crying. I think I squeaked out something stupid like "Are you really calling??" haha. He sounds good but he is ready to get through BC and be done with it. He says lots of young kids are undisciplined and don't know when to shut up. I don't think he minds the extra PT as punishment, just doesn't want them messing with his phone time. He feels like all the yelling and scene making from the RDCs is choreographed. He finally started getting my letters last Wednesday and said all the guys were cheering for him when his name was called for mail because he had been so bummed from not hearing from me. That made me smile.

Could this day be even better. Got His call too. Amazing to hear that voice, hear all the stories and know that he really is OK. Congrats to Division 333, for earning their first flag for everyone passing their test on Tuesday. Praying that you all work it all out and come together very soon! Karen- thank you from the bottom of my heart for letting us know to expect this call, I appreciate it so much and jump up and screamed when that 847 number came in!
