Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!
Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!
Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Honnalora and the rest who got letters, I'm so happy for you all! Isn't it great to have that little piece of them in your hands and read and read again! I'm hoping for a second letter this week, or a phone call this weekend, but we'll see!

What shows on the phone when they call? Does it show area code 847? I missed a call today from an "unknown" number, very worried it was my son. With my job, that happens sometimes - people block the number. I am so upset that I may have missed him.

Well said Honnalora, I too love to hear how the other recruits are doing! No letters today for me but Thursday's are my days so I am looking forward to tomorrow. My husband got paid today, it's the start of September, letters and phone calls are on the way... Things are looking up!! :)

SO very excited for everyone getting mail! Glad that we are finally finding out that our recruits are alive, well, and on their way to becoming sailors. Everyone seems to be sounding very positive.
If you haven't gotten a letter yet, hang on - the mail just may need another day or so to get to you. I live in Indiana, just about 5 1/2 hours away from Great Lakes. I expect that doesn't take too long via mail. Also, please be encouraged by the words and updates that are coming our way. We are all getting a little peek into what is happening at BC.
My letters were wonderful, but I feel like they are just one piece of the puzzle that tells the story of their experience. I love, and find comfort in hearing what other recruits are writing home and feel like it completes the picture.
