Navy momLG-I did enjoy him as much as I could. He told me that he is not a letter writer but I can see that most become one. Yeah 9 months go by fast. I am looking forward to PIR. I'm staying the whole week end in case he gets to spend it with us. Your son will love the cross country trip. And he can call you

akmom - glad your long wait is finally over, but there have been days I wish my son were still here waiting :) You should be getting letters soon!

Laura - how wonderful for you to have two weeks with your son. Was Sub School his last school? My SR said he has three schools to go through after BC. If he made it through BC and Sub School, I am guessing he will be fine driving to WA :) Was that the first time he was home with you? Sorry for all the quesitons, it just exciting to hear from someone with information about what comes next!! I know I should really just try to stay one day at a time, but this is all so exciting for me.

JessicaB- I keep hearing that but it is hard to imagine. Thanks

NavymomLG-oh boy he was a DEP for a long time it seems. First he had to make weight and missed the Aug 1st date of 2009. Then he made weight shortly there after and was given Aug 1st 2010. However they changed it to Aug 11. We were on an emotional roller coaster for a few months. But he is off now.

Laura thanks so much. I was kind of second guessing my rearing abilities with him..lol great and independent yet a bit uncomapssionate towards his mother, hmmm!!! hahahaa just joking hes a good kid and I did a great job... :)

Laura - wow, that's really great that you are here for us. This is such a great resource. Where is your son now?

Welcome akmom!! How long was your SR a DEP? Mine was about 9 months, and I knew about the site but it just seemed so far away that I didn't start snooping around here until the end of July. Boy am I glad I did!! You will find many supportive Mom's and wives here to help you through this crazy time.

cameowlot and JessicaB thanks for the info on the cards.
I was soooo hoping to get a form letter today in the mail. I never recieved the "I'm here" call and after speaking with the recruiter I may not get "the letter" if my SR chooses not to send one, could that be right? I thought they would have to send one. My son is pretty independent.

Hi everyone . Thank you for all the info I have recieved just by reading and reading. I wish I would have had this web site when my SR was a dep. Looking forward to getting to know more moms in the same stage as I. I do miss my boy, especially when the box. That's when I knew that this time it is for real.

Cameowlot- You and ur family are in my prayers! Doesn't sound like things are going well and Im terribly sorry ur having to go through that while ur son is away. You can always come here for that extra support!! Sounds like you won't tell ur sailor in the event something happens while he is away...thats a really hard decision and Im sorry you have to make that :( Big Hugs to you!!!!
