Thomas and Adam's mom, when my daughter called the first time I saw that area code and was so excited I didn't know what to do. I looked at my fiance and said "it's her" and he looked at me as the phone kept ringing and ringing and said "Don't you think you should answer it?" lol

I love my family very much, but it was my N4M's family who got me through boot camp and are now getting me through A-school. No one can understand better than another navy mom. :)

I haven't been numbering the envelopes, but I have been dating the actual letters, so my son should be able to figure it out! I hope to get his first letter home soon. I have been lucky enough to get a couple short phone calls because he needed more info from us, so that has helped ALOT.

Hello I am so new to this bear with me. My son is ship 10 div 336. I believe many of you have someone graduating with my son on the same day. Love to get to know more people and maybe even some that have family with my son

For anyone interested the Navy Lodge is a pretty good place to stay and is very close to the base. You can book the room in your recruits name, just tell them you have a sailor graduating and you will get the discount. It is only $65 a night and you can request a room with a kitchen for the same price.

Melohhdee - I just typed a message to you, but then deleted it (see the "x" in your post box). I forgot what group I was on (I help all of them). If your husband is in Division 948, that would be PIR 10/15/10, not this group (this group has Div 947). Here is the direct link, click these blue underlined words to get there: PIR 10/15/10

I recommend booking hotel and rental car asap, as those do not have cancellation fees up to 48 hrs before you arrive. I like to advise families to wait until the half way mark before purchasing airfare (make sure they have been there at least 4 wks, maybe even 5 wks). Lots of things can happen - medical setbacks, test setbacks, etc. The Navy recommends buying refundable tickets - they are crazy! Those cost $400 to $600 more per person! It is more reasonable to purchase normal or budget tickets, then just pay the $100 change fee if you need to delay your trip (if their PIR date gets pushed back) or if for some reason you need to cancel entirely (for any reason), you have credit with that airline for one year (less change fee, and if you cancel before boarding time). So... you want to book at least 14 days before you want to leave in order to get decent prices, 21 days before to get even better deals and 28 days (4 wks) to get the best airfare prices. I travel for my job and I book my own travel, so I have a little practice at this. Hope this helps.

You have no idea how much better that makes me feel. I was feeling really bad that I was out of town when I got the letter with his address on it so couldn't mail anything til yesterday. We are in MN so the mail gets there quick - usually one day. Numbering the envelopes was one tip I did pick up and have done that since the beginning. Again, this is a great site!!
