Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

I want to back up a bit and say I didn't mean to leave out spouses/siblings and other families members here on the site in my previous post or to make it sound like this is only for Moms. All are welcome, and much appreciated. We are all in this together. So glad you are all here!

Kellig - they get mail each day, except for Sundays. But only once their mail starts. It is my understanding that they don't mail for a couple of weeks and then they get all that has piled up the day their mail calls do start. Some families have reported getting their first letter from their recruit before their recruit got any of theirs. Here is one suggestion - number your letters in the order that you write/send them so when your recruit gets the stack of mail, they can read them in order.

Honalora, I absolutely agree with you. I too want to thank everyone for the things they post. I don't post much (don't have much to say!) but seem to always be on here reading and getting to know other moms and learning things I didn't even know I needed to learn!
I guess I do have a question. When do they get mail? Is it as it comes in or do they only get it once a week? I know they can only write on Sundays.

Does anyone know anything about the Ships? I believe they each have a name based on a decommissioned ship, and I remember seeing something about flags. I see quite a few of us are Ship 10, is that because we are all PIR 10/8 or do they mix them up? How many Ships are there? Just curious.

WOW! I go to work and come home to see that dozens of Navy Moms are joining us, as we all countdown together until PIR! We have so many great things ahead of us to celebrate together. Our kids are amazing, and we have MUCH to celebrate! I just want to say thank you to each one of you for raising such wonderful kids, with a willingness to serve! It is an honor to call myself a Navy Mom with you. So glad our kids have each other there - and we have each other here!
