How awesome for you SoulStar!

Some of you may hear from your recruits during P-days, but only because the Navy needs them to provide info that only you can give them. These are very short calls, on the Navy's dime, but it's nice to hear their voice! They won't get to make a "real" call until week 3 (which is sometimes week 4). The saying that you will hear often and also learn to hate is "No news is Good news"!

I just received a 1 min phone call from my husband. It was one of those "Hey, quickly fax me xyz documents to continue my processing" calls, but anything is better than nothing. I was delighted to hear his voice!! I'm hoping phone calls and letters will start coming soon.

Welcome New Moms/Wives/Girlfriends - and any men we may have out there!

I agree with Lala Ribbon Queen - you'll get the best information and the most wonderful support by being in a PIR group (this one!). Sometimes people start a separate group for a specific division, but they don't have enough activity to keep you informed. That's why there is the discussion area above, for the specific division numbers.

Kimbob699 - Your loved one would be in this PIR group. This group has 12 Divisions, numbering 331 to 340, 822 (Special Ops) and 947 (performing group). It almost sounds like you are asking about a "boot camp" site - like the one the Navy has. I don't have that website info on the tip of my tongue, but it's on your form letter. Was that your question?

JessicaB may not be available today, so I will try my best to fill her shoes. The fastest way to get a question answered is to friend me and then send a message, or leave one in my comment area! I am in ALL the active PIR groups, so it's hard to catch up on all the posts - and I may miss something. There are also lots of seasoned moms from recent PIR groups who have joined us to help "pay it forward" to the new moms. Thank goodness for those moms!

morning! I imagine more will find their way to this PIR as letters arrive this week; welcome to all! My son left 8/9 in ship 4, div 822 so he's getting an 'extra' week, lucky him! It's hard to believe summer is winding down, back to school/work tomorrow so I'll be going through some N4Ms withdrawal! LOL.

Daughter and I are heading out for some shopping fun today, my 'last day' of summer vacation so everyone have a great day!

You can start groups or discussions for each division but those sometimes don't have many people in them. You will make lots of friends and learn a lot by keeping in contact with your PIR group which is right here :) Today is our last day before school starts so we are off to have some fun in the sun. I hope everyone has a great day.

Hi ladies! This is my first official post and I’m still learning the lay of the land around here, but I’d thought I’d say hello. My husband is in Ship 4 Div 822 and left on 8/12. I honestly didn’t realize how much joy and laughter he brought into my daily life until he left. I think that’s human nature though – never realize what we have until we lose it. :) He’s 27 and has been on his own for 10 years, so naturally he says boot camp sucks. He expected that and knows it’s a means to an end! Any way, I think this site is amazing, but of course I’m not surprised – Moms know how to get it done ;)

Good morning everyone! I recognize some of you, but for the others, let me introduce myself. My son is ship 10/div 338. He left on 8/17 from Minnesota. I got the box last Friday, and my letter yesterday. I am excited to be in "phase 2" of this adventure, and look forward to sharing it with a great group of Moms. I am off to mail the 7 letters I have already written. Oh, and to work too :) Have a great day!

Where do we check out the boot camp site. For our 947 Div., Sorry for the silly question.

You all are very welcome. We stayed at the Navy Lodge. I was the contact person for the meet and greet at the Ramada. I made ribbons for the moms in our PIR group so we could recognize each other at PIR and I am still making ribbons for other PIR groups lol. That's how I got the name ribbon queen. We only had 7 hours with our sailor so we didn't go to Chicago. We went to Gurnee Mall and to our hotel for a little while. The first 2 weeks are the hardest. I promise it will get better and when your PIR date finally comes up you will be so surprised at at how fast the time passed. Start writing letters and if you can write every day. They live for mail, it is their only link to the outside world. You can also add an extra letter with just some encouraging words and whatever else you can think of. Have your Sr give it to a friend who isn't getting any mail. Sadly there are those who do not have any family support and won't get letters. I did this and those 2 sailors are still writing to me from A-school. I hope everyone has a great evening. Have questions? Let me know, send me a friend request and I will help in any way I can. :)
